KAPUSO TIME...

You guys may not be keen to notice this, but the Filipino shows we have watched here in Kenya come from a supply of the two leading production companies in The Philippines; One is ABS-CBN Network (dubbed Kapamilya) and the other GMA Network (dubbed Kapuso.) I am not going to argue over the fact that Kapamilya is no doubt the best out of the two, but we also have to give credit to GMA for some of their good work we have seen. Today, I am going to countdown some of our favorite GMA shows that have had the pleasure of gracing the Kenyan airwaves…

OPEN LETTER TO JAKE CUENCA...

I am writing this letter to Mr. Cuenca, to thank him and appreciate a good person, an extremely talented artist who knows better than the next man, the true value of having people look up to you, love you and admire you.

THE FEMALE FOLK, AND SOAP OPERAS....

Since I started this blog, it has been a whirlwind of experiences, all of which are really good and some of the feedback I’ve gained, especially from the men is interesting. All they want to know is why the ladies are so obsessed with soap operas that only portray the mushy kind of love that is foreign not only to the Kenyan culture but to Africa as a whole. Surely, romance never came naturally to our Kenyan men. They are complaining about the pressure these kinds of programs are bringing in their love lives as the ladies expect such kind of treatment as they see on these Telenovelas….
That said, I am quite torn over this issue, finding close to no solution because most of them are sincerely not within the range of becoming possible… How really can you stop a woman from watching soap operas? Here are some of the ways i thought of and i hope you guys can tell me which one can actually work...
1. Ban the shows from airing… That is as far as I can go with that sentence; I can barely tolerate the absurdity of this idea. Why on earth would we get rid of the best entertainment we have?I often saw that to me, a soap opera is a girl’s version of football… Imagine you being banned from watching that Real Madrid vs Barcelona match and tell me… putting a damp on this idea altogether, no one has the kind of power achieve such a thing as to ban soap operas from airing!

2. Keep your lady from watching Telenovelas… You could accomplish this easy task by ensuring you are with your lady 24hours a day and monitoring her television programs.

3. Do not buy a Television at all… This is close to a sane idea, only if you ensure that you have no neighbors your lady could go to and that you don’t like watching any TV.

4. Date a woman who hates soap operas… This is the best idea so far but also needs a lot of caution; we all know that no woman really hates soap operas!Soon as she watches two episodes consecutively, they are hooked! Keep her away from any situation that she will be able to watch the program uninterrupted for two days. If she gets the flow of the program, you are done.

5. Step up your game and become the romantic type! Yes, I can almost hear the sarcastic laugh over this idea so I’ll leave it at that…
If you guys have better solutions to better escape this epic conundrum currently facing our society all would be swell… my only request being that none of you try to cure ME of it… I quite enjoy my little obsession since an hourly dose of Xian lim, or Paulo Avelino or even Coco martin does me more good than harm… ;-)
