If you have been
logging in am sure you must know that Pangako
Sa yo a.k.a The Promise is getting
remade and has already started airing in The Philippines. From the many reviews
about the show, it is quite successful, breaking twitter records now and the
every time it airs!
As we hope it to air in Kenya soon, I will give you guys a sneak peak of the show, telling you guys all the fantastic people that got to reprise the roles of the amazing characters which made the show a global success: Such as Claudia, Amor, Eduardo, Bea Bianca and of course the lead Yna and Angelo. I do however realize the pressure that comes with re-doing something of such caliber, these guys are bound to get compared and criticized which mostly borders on the negative; i am getting on the comparison band wagon as well... Let's do this!!!!

1. Yna Macaspac (Kristine

Yna was indeed the
heart of the story with her innocence and beauty, lending the feel of concern
and hurt whenever we saw her oppressed while she struggled to make it
through life while taking care of her family. I believe they chose well with Kathryn Bernado who we have previously seen in Mara Clara and she fits Kristine Hermosa's shoes quite well,
with an air of innocence and naivety about her.
2. Angelo Buenavista

This is an
interesting comparison with Jericho Rosales for me being the favorite of the two as he
has a way of portraying genuine innocence and virtue while at the same time being the one that did something wrong! (I Love this about
him). Daniel Padilla however with his bad boy looks seems a bit off for
Angelo's character; this stemming from the fact that we have not had any of his shows aired here in Kenya. Crossing our fingers for
The Promise being the first so that we can better ponder upon this Angelo issue.
3. Claudia Buenavista (Jean

The ever illicit
and cruel Claudia Buenavista is great for both Jean Garcia and Angelica Panganiban
as we have seen in other shows they have been on. Angelica is quite ummm... good with antagonistic roles, though i like Jean Garcia more.(Although I doubt watu wangu
mnakumbuka Angelica on Lisa Pa Lamang, but don't fret, you can take my view on
this one!)
4. Amor Powers (Eula Valdez

I believe Jodi Sta. Maria is a great choice for Amor since let’s face it, Eula Valdez practically destroyed that role and they had to find someone equally impeccable to do it! (This is mostly due to the 1 million tweets she garnered from one of her amazing scene) but also because being the only one to have her name credited on both shows gives her an edge over the rest of the cast who only got to watch it ;( She played Lia, Angelo's sister in 2000).
5. Eduardo

Ian Veneracion is an important name though we happened to watch one of his shows Till Morning Comes (Darating ang Umaga)
a long time ago where he played Abel
Reverente!!!! (Cheers if your brain
can remember that far back!) I believe he is playing Eduardo quite well, as
did Tonton Gutierrez in 2000.
6. Bea Bianca

She was a feisty
one, Bea Bianca Bejerrano (Yes, indeed;
this may not be how they pronounce it but it sure is the way they spell it!
O.o); the one person who was able to come between Angelo and Yna. There has
been a huge craze about who will get to reprise this role, with quite a number
of Filipino ladies going in to audition. They finally settled on one entitled Sarah Carlos and we are just waiting
to see if she will get to live up to her highly anticipated introduction to the
show.
All this said and done, the new Pangako Sa Yo cast is really under a lot of pressure to live up to these legendary people who first gave life to these roles. I want to us our Filipino counterparts what they think of them; whether or not, they are doing the job right... Give us your feedback!
