We started with a young lady called Serena walking around
the palace that was her home looking disconcerted and the narrator talked about
how the lady just wished she could have a simple life instead of all the
extravagance that came with her life.
Flash back to an infant Serena; she was with her Filipino
parents in a war torn country called Ascovia. Her father let her go with her
mother and her older sister along with the women and the children. As they were
being transported out of the war zone, they were mistakenly attacked by a troop
and their vehicle blew up. Among the survivors was an infant who was taken to
the refugee camp.
An Italian heir called Roberto Marchesa visited the refugee
camp and saw little girl who now had no parents. He seemed to have a special
affection for her so he decided to adopt her.
Roberto took the
child home in Italy and he introduced
her to his wife Luciana but she was pleased. She asked Roberto why he would
adopt a child without asking her and asked him to return her. Roberto told
Luciana that adopting Serena was the only way he could become a father because
Luciana did not want to give him one so the child was going to stay.
Roberto’s nanny at the house was old and wanted to retire
and live her last days with her family in the Philippines but she recommended another
nanny for Roberto to take care of his daughter.
Eight years later, we met a young girl full of vitality. She
loves her nanny’s Filipino dishes and even plays football in a children’s
league. However, Luciana and her grandmother do not like her behavior so they ask Roberto to teach Serena how to
behave because she did not bear their blood. Serena had hurried back home from
a football game with her Nanny Melds in order
to return before her anyone notices that she was missing. They however arrived
late and Serena was able to overhear her grandmother say that she was adopted.
Serena ran to her room and Roberto followed her to explain
to her that although she was adopted, he still loved her. He also told her
about how he rescued her from Ascovia and she became his daughter.
Serena is hurt by the circumstance and now understands why
her mother does not love her. She heard Luciana say to Roberto that he adopted
her without even asking and she would not be forced to care for someone that
she did not want.
Serena ran to her Nanny Melds who sang for her and asked her
not to be sad because although she was an orphan, she still had parents who
took care of her. In the morning, Roberto seemed worried about Serena but she
woke up jovial and she even asked Roberto if they could help other orphans.
Meanwhile In the Philippines, we met a young boy called
Tenten who lives at an orphanage. He is close to the institution’s chef called
Taps and her family; her husband Dodoy and son Binggoy. Tenten talks with a
lisp and his biggest wish is to have someone adopt her so that he too could
also have a family. One day at the orphanage, a couple went to see if they
could adopt a child and since they wanted an older child, Taps was hopeful that
they would ask for Tenten. She made the mistake of telling this to Tenten who
became hopeful that finally get adopted but unfortunately, the couple did not
ask for him and we ended as Tenten found out that another child had been chosen
instead of him.
