Episode 5
We started with Marcy telling Emil that the boy she used to
take care of in Singapore was in the Philippines and he had gone to see her.
Emil asked if Marcy was yet to forgive him and she said that it was not that
easy.
Phil got back to Rose’s place feeling down after realizing
that Marcy was still mad at him. Rose asked him why Marcy was upset and he told
her as well as Terrence that he got her deported from Singapore after he stole
a necklace and put it in her bag so she was the one accused of stealing. Rose
was outraged and told Phil that he should apologize to her and Phil said that
he already did that with the letter he sent. Rose said that it was not enough
and Phil needed to apologize to Marcy in person.
Phil returned to Marcy’s school to try and apologize again.
He told her that he was sorry for what he did before and for being a coward.
Marcy said that she would like to tell him that she forgave him but it was
something that impacted heavily on her.
Later that evening, Marcy told Emil about Phil insisting on
looking for her and he told her that it must have been hard on Phil too since it
was something that weighed on his conscious and he was only seeking closure. He
therefore advised Marcy to forgive Phil but Marcy said that her heart was not
ready to do so.
Pinang told her parents that Aunt Sol; Andy’s wife had asked
them to be prepared to leave the farm if ever the sale pushed through but Emil
told her that they would not do anything until it was confirmed that the farm
had been sold. Pinang promised her father that she would do her best to pass
her bar exam and make enough to get
their farm back.
Julian; Pinang’s younger brother went to enroll into college for an
architectural degree but her told Emil that the tuition fee might be a little
expensive and he was not sure they could afford it. Emil told him that they
would not give up before they even tried so he asked Julian not to worry about
it.
However, everyone was on alert about the impending move so
Pinang started hunting for a house they could move into; inquiring about rent
and other expenses. She found out that it would be expensive so she started
making her famous Custard desserts to sell to her patients at the hospital.
Pinang’s grandfather also felt bad that they would no longer
have the farm and it had been sold to pay for his medical expenses. He went to the
market one time and met a friend of his who made brooms and said he was able to
help his family with some minor expenses. He taught grandpa how to make them
and offered his space so that they could sell the brooms together.
Pinang’s friends, Migaela and Nas offered to help her sell
her desserts so they bought some of them when she brought them to the hospital.
As Pinang was heading home, Phil saw her and approached her
on his bike. He offered to carry her basket but she said she was fine. Phil
rode next to her and offered her some food he had bought but Pinang said she was
full. He then asked her out for coffee but Pinang said she was busy. She asked
him to leave her alone and have a nice day. Phil said that he already had a
nice day after seeing her; winked and rode away.
Phil then saw Nas and Migaela and approached them. Migaela
was eating something so Phil asked what it was. Migaela gave it to him to taste
it and he said that it was so good, it
made his heart happy. He asked who made them and Migaela said that she was the
one. Phil wanted to buy the rest but Migaela gave them to him for free. She
then asked him to get her number in case he wanted to order more and Phil
agreed to take it.
Phil took the desserts and took them to Marcy at her school.
Marcy saw him outside and asked one of her coworkers to tell him that she was
still working. Phil therefore gave the lady the desserts to give to Marcy.
Marcy tasted the desserts when she got home and realized
that they tasted the same as the ones Pinang made. Emil and Julian confirmed
this so when Pinang arrived, she asked her if she had sold her desserts to a
foreigner. Pinang said she did not and listed all the people she sold them to.
When Nas and Migaela went to review their lessons with
Pinang that evening, Migaela could not help but gush about Phil. She told
Pinang that she said she made the desserts and Pinang said that she did not
mind as long as she made a profit. Phil called her then and she screamed in
delight. He asked where she was and she said she was reviewing with Pinang. He
then asked about her schedule and if she was always with Pinang and Migaela told
him what they would volunteer as nurses the following day. Phil ordered 6 more
desserts because he wanted to give them to Rose and Terrence and said he would
collect them at the clinic the following morning. Miguela told Pinang that she
would order 10 desserts from her the following day.
As Phil was riding to the clinic, he almost hit a child with
his bike so he had to brake suddenly and ended up getting injured instead.
Migaela attended to his wounds at the clinic but his attention was on Pinang
who was taking very good care of a boy who had been injured too.
Episode 6
After Phil was treated, he collected the desserts and
Migaela gave him three of them for free! He was happy to accept them and invited
the three of them to lunch. Pinang said that she was busy and could not go but
the rest agreed to go.
Phil he took the three desserts to Marcy at school then went to Rose’s place
to change. He gave them the other 6 and said that he was going out to lunch
with friends.
Nas and Migaela took Phil to a famous restaurant in the town
called De Luna’s and Phil enjoyed the
Filipino food that they served there. He asked them about Pinang and whether
she was always busy and Nas said that she was a good friend but she had to some
family problems at the moment.
After they finished eating, they had a drink made from
Custard and other things. Phil then overheard the manager on the phone saying
that he needed a new supplier for custard because he was having problems with
his old one. He got up and told the manager that his friend made amazing
custard and she could be his supplier. The manager was glad and asked Migaela
to bring samples for tasting the following day.
As they were leaving the restaurant, Nas asked Migaela to
tell Phil the truth about the desserts. Migaela confessed that Pinang made the
custard desserts and not her. She said she lied to impress him but Phil said
that there was no need to do that since he already liked them.
When Migaela and Nas went to review that evening, Migaela
told Pinang about the offer by De Lunas and asked her to take her samples to
them the following day. Pinang was overjoyed and asked Migaela to thank Phil
for recommending her.
Mackie called from Singapore and told his family that he
fine although they had problems with accommodations. Marcy asked if she should
contact his agency and he asked her not to assuring her that things would be
sorted out.
Phil asked Rose if she had Pinang’s number and Rose gave it
to him as she teased him. She also asked him not to pester Pinang.
As Pinang took her books to her room, Phil called and Pinang
was surprised to hear him. She asked why he had called and he said that he only
wanted to hear her voice. Pinang dismissed that and instead thanked him for
getting her the deal with De Lunas. Phil told her that she should take him out
for food if she got the deal but Pinang said that she did not have any money.
Phil said that fish balls would be enough and he would even buy them but Pinang
said good night and hang up.
Phil called Pinang all evening and they could hardly have
dinner in peace because the phone could not stop ringing so Pinang put it on
silent.
In the morning, Pinang gathered her entire family to watch
her make her custard desserts saying that they were her inspiration to make the
most delicious desserts so that De Luna’s could hire her.
As Phil had breakfast with Rose’s family, he asked her
mother what it would take for her to forgive someone who had wronged her and
she said that if someone gave her flowers, then she would forgive them. Rose
agreed and said that flowers always worked on women.
After the desserts were made, Pinang took them to De Luna’s
but Phil was already there waiting for her. He said that he wanted to wish her
luck.
When Pinang went inside, the manager said that there would
be others bringing their samples for tasting and they would choose the best one.
He also told Pinang that if they decided on her, she would have to deliver 50
batches of the custard, 7 days a week since they were always open and asked if
she would be fine with it. Pinang said
that it would not be a problem, left her number and address then left.
Phil was still outside waiting and he was there to claim his
fish ball date. Pinang said that she had things to do and wanted to leave but
Phil insisted saying that it would not take long. There was a fish ball stand
on the other side of road and he ushered
her over to it. They ate a stick each and Pinang smeared the sauce all over her
face. Phil wanted to wipe it off but Pinang wiped it with her shirt. Phil
wanted to take Pinang home but she had her bike with her so she told him it was
not necessary. She walked over to it and rode away in a hurry.
Phil bought some flowers and took them to Marcy at school.
He said that he would be leaving soon for Singapore and wanted to apologize to
her again. Marcy wished him a safe trip back and said that her students were
waiting for her.
Migaela got a call from her mother to visit her in Singapore
before the ticket she sent expired. Migaela did not want to go because she
would fall behind on her review but Pinang asked her to go and she would help
her once she got back.
As Pinang was heading home from the clinic, she got a text
from Phil asking if he could call her. She did not reply but Phil called and
asked where she was headed. She said she was going home and he asked if he
could walk with her. Pinang was puzzled and Phil asked her to look across the
road; where he was standing… That was where we ended.
