Episode 39
We started with Emil telling Phil to go home. Phil realized
that Mr. Emil was really mad so he decided to drop it and left.
Pinang went to
explain to her father why Phil was there but he stopped her and asked her to
close her window and go to sleep.
Emil was pacing in the room and he woke up Marcy. He told
her about Pinang and Phil and asked Marcy to talk to their daughter in the
morning.
Phil was gloomy when he got back to Dahlia’s house and she
asked him whether he already brought the flowers to Pinang. Phil said he did
but he looked sad and Dahlia asked him why that was. Phil explained to her what
happened and said that he did not understand why Sir Emil was upset because
they were doing nothing wrong. Dahlia explained to him that it seemed as if he
was going behind Emil’s back to see Pinang because he used the window instead
of the door and it was also a sign of disrespect.
Before Phil went to bed, Gab called to tell Phil that he
left the flower pots he had bought in her car. They agreed that Gab would bring
them with her when she went to visit Pinang the following day,
As Pinang was preparing her caramel custards, Marcy joined
her and Pinang took the chance to explain what happened. She said that she did
not entertain Phil and he showed up at her window even when she had asked him
to go home because it was late. Marcy understood but asked Pinang to talk to
her father since he was the one who was really upset. They stopped talking
because Julian and Mackie interrupted them and Marcy asked Pinang to go get her
father so that they could have breakfast.
Pinang went to get Mr. Emil who had gone to the farm early
and asked him to join them for breakfast but Emil refused. He was still mad and
he said that he would eat later then proceeded to work. Pinang was heading back
to the house when Phil rode up to her on his bike. He wished her good morning
but Pinang only looked at him and continued to walk away. Phil turned back and
saw Emil watching them.
When Pinang got back in the house, Mackie pointed out that
Emil must have been mad to refuse to have breakfast with them. Pinang told them
what happened with Phil and Grandpa Apo said that Phil did not know about their
culture and he believed that Phil had no bad intentions.
After breakfast, Pinang went to deliver her caramel custards
as Mackie and Julian left for the day. Emil was hungry after refusing to have
breakfast so he went back to the house. Marcy asked him not to be so mad and
then Phil arrived to apologize for what happened. Emil was still mad so it was
Marcy who talked to him. He told them that Mum Dahlia explained to him why it
was wrong and he did not mean any disrespect to them. He said it would not happen again and Emil
told him to make sure that it did not. He told Phil that he wanted to know what
his intentions were with Pinang and Phil was about to answer him but they were
interrupted. One of the workers came looking for Pinang because his daughter
was sick but since she was not around, Emil and Marcy went to help and take the
child to the hospital.
Pinang was unpacking her stuff when Marcy and Emil got back.
Emil avoided Pinang even after she greeted him and Marcy asked Pinang not to
let the day end before she spoke with her father. She went inside to change so
that she could go to school and asked
Pinang to help her pack the lunches she sold.
Gab arrived and stopped over to at the duck pen to greet Phil
and give him the flower pots that he had
left in the car. Pinang saw them and seemed a little upset. Gab joined her and asked Pinang whether she
liked the flowers that Phil brought because they went up in the mountains to
get them. Pinang said something about Gab inviting Phil to go with her but Gab
corrected and said that they ran into
each other in Baguio and she decided to help Phil look for the flowers
because they were for her. Nars and Miggy arrived with a laptop because they
were going to apply for jobs on line.
Marcy and Emil were ready to leave for school and Emil said
that it was good to see Pinang focus on something important. Gab was excited
and suggested that they go on vacation so that they could celebrate Pinang and
her friends passing the bar exam. She suggested that they invite Phil to make
it more fun and Pinang said it would be fine if her Dad agreed. Emil said that
it was up to them so Pinang said that she would not go.
Marcy talked to Emil about letting making up with Pinang and
he said he was angry because he did not pay for her education to see her being
courted by a window. Marcy told him that they could not stop her so what they
had to do was guide her adding that she wanted to see Pinang being courted
before she became an old maid. Emil said that he did not want Phil to be with
Pinang because they were indebted to him.
That evening, Gab called Phil to invite him to join them on
vacation but Phil said that he was not feeling well and declined the
invitation. Gab visited Pinang the following morning and she subtly asked if
Phil would be joining them but Gab told her Phil would not go with them because
he was sick.
Episode 40
Pinang was applying for more jobs with Nars and Miggy but
she was distracted thinking about Phil being sick. They teased her for it so
they decided to call Phil to check up on him. Nars called Phil and after a
short chat, she gave the phone to Miggy. Miggy told Phil to get better then
gave the phone to Pinang. Pinang signaled frantically that she would not take
it so Miggy said that Pinang had gone to the bathroom because he had to pea.
Phil was disappointed on the other end and thanked Miggy for calling.
Pinang said that she wanted to make porridge as a snack but
it was usually food made for the sick. Nars and Miggy were on her case again
because she made it for Phil but Pinang did not admit it. After the porridge
was done, Nars said that he and Miggy would deliver it to Phil and say that it
came from him. Pinang was delighted with the plan and rushed over to pack the
soup for Phil.
Phil thanked Miggy and Nars for the porridge when they
brought it over to him at Dahlia’s house. He asked who made it and Miggy was
ready to say it was Pinang but Nars kicked her foot and said it was him. Dahlia
reheated it for Phil and he liked it so much, he sent Nars a text to thank him.
Pinang was pacing at home wondering if Phil was doing okay
and feeling upset because Nars and Miggy did not update her when Nars texted.
He forwarded the text Phil sent to him and Pinang was overjoyed because Phil
had praised her cooking.
At work, Julian started receiving anonymous love notes and
since he did not know who they were from, he said he would focus on his work
because the person might be making fun of him.
Pinang was still sad because she had not made up with Emil.
She took out a bud from the bouquet of flowers that Phil brought and hid it in
her book. In the morning, she tried to talk to Emil and convince him that she
had not lost sight of her priorities. She got the rest of the bouquet and threw
it in the dust bin to prove that she was not entertaining Phil. Phil had just
arrived at the duck pen when he saw Pinang throw away his roses and he was so disappointed,
he went back to Dahlia’s house to sulk.
Emil asked Pinang why she threw the flowers away when Phil
had gone all the way to Baguio to get them for her. He took the flowers out of
the bin and handed them back to Pinang saying that he did not raise them to
reject gifts that people gave them. Pinang was in tears as she explained that
even if someone courted her, she would not lose sight of her goals because she
wanted to achieve her dreams first. Emil hugged her and they were finally able
to give up.
Phil talked to Terrence and Rose on the video call and told
them about Pinang throwing away her flowers. He was sad because he went to get
them all the way from Baguio but he said it was not Pinang’s fault because she
never asked for them adding that maybe he had been overdoing things.
Gab visited Pinang and to remind her about their vacation
and officially asked Emil if he would let her go. Emil said it was fine with
him so Pinang set out to prepare the caramel custards that she would need to
deliver in advance for the three days she would be away. Gab said she would
take care of all the expenses and agreed to pick Pinang along with Nars and
Miggy in the morning.
The following day, Andy went to visit Emil since he was
alone at the house after Gab left. He said that Sol had gone to Manila and he
had not gone with her. Emil asked him about his relationship with his wife and
Andy said that he and Sol had been having problems for a while. Emil offered to
mediate between them so that they could work out their issues. He advised Andy
to give up his pride if Sol would not do it so that they could save their
marriage. Andy said he understood now that love was not enough to have a
marriage and he wished that Sol loved the people who were important to him.
Pinang, Gab, Nars and Miggy all arrived at the resort. Gab
and Miggy went to check in while Nars and Pinang stayed by the lobby waiting.
Nars took the chance to call Phil and ask him how he was doing. He told Phil
that they had already arrived at the resort and he could still join them if he
wanted to. He then handed over the phone to Pinang without any warning so that
she would not refuse to talk to him. Pinang tensed and asked Phil to get well
soon then hang up. Phil was left smiling on the other end and started feeling
better when Nars texted that it was actually Pinang who made the porridge for
him.
Phil decided to join them after learning that bit of news.
He checked the location of the hotel online, packed up and left with Dahlia
happy to see him finally feeling better. He arrived at the resort later that evening and
booked a room. He asked for Gab and one of the attendants helped him look for her.
In the evening, Nars, Miggy and Gab were enjoying themselves
in the pool but Pinang refused to go in because she was in a bikini and felt
uncomfortable taking off the robe she had on when there were other people
watching. She waited until they all left and was finally taking off her robe
when Phil walked up to her. That was where we ended…
