The Promise Episode 13

 We started with Yna cleaning Angelo’s car and he was watching her. Some other workers joined him to arrange some furniture but they could not focus on their work since they began watching Yna as well. She had poured water all over herself so her clothes cling to her more. Angelo noticed this and pushed told the guys arranging the furniture to leave. He approached Yna and asked her whether she intended to wash her clothes too. He asked her to go change her clothes before continuing.

When Yna got to their house to change clothes, she found her parents arguing about Caloy as Belen accused Isko of failing to care about their son who was in prison.

Yna changed her clothes and returned to finish cleaning Angelo’s car. Once she was done, Angelo told her that the compound looked messy and told her to cut the grass. Yna wanted to go get the grass cutter but he told her to do it with her hands.

Miguel went to talk to Angelo about the improvements of the resort and found him staring at Yna again. He admired Yna’s tenacity for putting up with Angelo’s demands but he called some of the workers and asked them to go help Yna. After sometime, Angelo asked the other guys to leave so that Yna could finish pulling out the grass by herself.

Yna was really tired after all the work but she woke up early the next morning to open the restaurant. Unfortunately, she was not early enough and Angelo was there when she arrived. He told her that she should wake up earlier than him so as to be first in the restaurant.

Angelo then asked Yna to accompany him and they went to the supermarket to buy some ingredients. He got three baskets and handed them to Yna, then gave her a shopping list that was as so long; it was unbelievable. He then left Yna by herself to do the shopping. Yna wondered whether there were no pulling carts but they were hidden. Yna shopped everything by herself and Angelo hired a Jeepney to drive them back to the resort. He dismissed the supermarket workers who went to help Yna load the stuff in the vehicle and made her load all the stuff by herself.

As they drove back home, Yna fell asleep because she was tired Angelo asked the Jeepney driver to stop abruptly so that Yna could get off balance. Yna fell hard on her seat and stayed awake the rest of the way back.

Claudia’s step mother went to see her to request her partnership because her business was failing but Claudia tore up the proposal and refused to help her. She then stole the investor that her step mother approached to help her so that she would not get any help from her as well.

When Angelo arrived back at the resort, the chef asked him why he had bought so many ingredients. Angelo said that he did not want to seem like a dictator by making the new menu without having their approval so he decided to do the dishes so that they could judge for themselves. He asked Yna to prepare all the ingredients that he would need and ordered everyone else to watch her and not help her.

As expected, he gave her a hard time and made her repeat most things although she had done them well. After she was done, he asked her to stock the fridge as the rest watched him prepare the dishes. Yna cleaned the vegetables trying to ward off tears because of the poor treatment that Angelo had been giving her and he saw it.

After Angelo was done making his dish, he presented them to the chef and assistant chef first. They did not have any rave reviews for the dishes and the chef finally said that she could not add Angelo’s dishes to the menu because they were not as good. She added that they were too foreign; european and most people who went to the resort were simple people. Angelo told her that he wanted to add an international feel to the resort and everyone who tried his dishes liked them. The chef suggested that the rest of the kitchen staff try his food to see if they had the same reaction they did with Yna’s dish but when they tried it, they all just nodded and praised the plating. They did not gush about the food. Yna was still standing away from the rest and had not sampled the food. Takong asked her to taste it and give her opinion but Angelo refused to let Yna taste his food. He said that he would try again the following day to see if they would like his food.

Takong later told Yna that Angelo seemed to be upset with her and it didn’t seemed like it was a simple matter.

Angelo talked to Miguel about all the plans he had to market the resort and they all seemed plausible but her advised Angelo to reconsider using Yna’s dishes because they were good.

When Yna got home, she found her mother doing laundry for more money to help with Caloy who was still in jail so she offered to do it so that her mother could get some rest.

We ended with Angelo thinking about Yna…
