KeMPhi representing in Miss World 2016!

The Miss World 2016 competition was held on the 18th of December in Washington D.C., United States with 117 contestants from all around the world competing for the crown.  Miss world Kenya contestant was 22 year old Evelyn Njambi Thungu while Miss World Philippines contestant was 22 year old Catriona Gray.

Both ladies made it to the top five of the finalists alongside Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Indonesia and Miss Dominican Republic. Both Miss Kenya and Miss Philippines also topped in other competitions associated with the peasant as Miss World Philippines won the Multimedia completion while Miss World Kenya was top five in the beauty with a purpose competition.

As Kenyans and fans of the Philippines, KeMPhi was definitely rooting for either Kenya or the Philippines taking the Miss World 2016 crown but the crown went to Miss World Puerto Rico contestant, 19 year old Stephanie Del Valle.
Although this is the case, we are proud of both ladies and here is a glimpse of how their Q&A session went…

Question by Miss World 1988, Linda Petursdottir (Iceland):
What can you do to improve education in the world?
Answer: What we can do to improve education in the world… Obviously, it begins with empowering every child to understand that education is important, and Nelson Mandela said that it is the weapon that a child can use to face the future. So first, let’s educate parents that education is important and then we shall have all our children on board to achieve their dreams.

Question by Miss World 2015, Mireia Lalaguna (Spain):
What qualities to you think it will take to wear my crown?
Answer: I think first of all, it takes bravery. To be a miss world is to carry a burning torch. It is like action carried out by one to illuminate the lives of many and I would dedicate my whole self, my love for the arts and my voice to uplift, empower and educate people. And it would be my greatest honor and duty to hold this torch high enough so that all the world could feel and see the light.  Thank you.

There you have it, the answers from our favoured contenders. Congratulations on getting to the top five and for raising the flags of Kenya and Philippines high.
Please share your view… :D
