We started with Simon sulking in his bed at the orphanage
because he had not been adopted.
Taps went to ask him to eat but Simon said
that he did not want to eat. Taps was disappointed with herself for having told
Simon that he would get adopted and apologized to him because she told him so
with no confirmation. Simon said that he had given up hoping to get adopted
because no one wanted him including his parents. Taps did not like to hear him
talk like that so she asked him not to despair because things would work out in
time.
Back in Italy, Serena helped Nanny Melds pack up some of her
stuff and they sent them to an orphanage in the Philippines. The other kids
took most of the stuff before Simon could get to the box but there was a pair
of football shoes left which Simon got.
Later, Simon asked Dodoy; Taps’ husband to help him compose a letter in English
so that he could thank the person who sent them the donation.
When Serena received Simon’s letter, she was delighted and
wrote back to thank him for his letter. The two became friends and kept in
contact as they wrote to each other about their respective lives. At one time,
Simon told Serena that he wished he could find a firefly in Manila. Serena
asked him why he wanted to see a firefly and Simon wrote that it was because there
was a legend that if one caught a firefly during a full moon, one could make
three wishes and they would come true. He gave Serena a list of wishes that he
wanted to make and one of them included meeting her one day.
On the full moon, Serena asked permission from her father to
go out to the fields with her mother but Roberto had a meeting and could not go
with her. Serena then asked her Nanny Melds to take her to the field instead
but Nanny Melds did not want any problems with Luciana so she refused to sneak
Serena out of the house.
Serena decided to go out on her own and sneaked out of the
house of the house after her parents left for a meeting. When Nanny Melds found
that Serena was not in her room, she tried to look for her around the house
Serena was nowhere to be found. She called Roberto to tell him about it and he
rushed back home together with Luciana and they were not able to attend their
meeting.
They called the police who reported back saying that they
had found Serena. A man ran into Serena on the streets by herself and took her
to the police station.
When they got home after picking up Serena, she tried to
explain that she was trying to fulfill a wish for a friend of hers. Luciana
asked who her friend was and Serena said that it was a friend of hers that she
had been exchanging letters to from the Philippines.
Serena’s grandmother accused Luciana of neglecting the child
and that was why she was becoming rebellious. Luciana therefore fired Nanny
Melds and became Serena’s care taker as her mother. She changed everything that
Serena was used to; took away her dolls and stopped her from communicating with
Simon. She also gave Serena classes on walking, dinning and overall how to behave
like the heiress that she was.
Back at the orphanage, Simon became sad because Serena
stopped sending him letters but was happy to receive the good news that he had
finally been adopted! Taps and Dodoy had decided to adopt Simon and fulfill his
wish of giving him a family. They gave him the name Simon Vicente Ibarra but
since Simon could not pronounce the name Vicente correctly because of his lisp,
Binggoy suggested that they call him Tenten instead.
Ten years later, Serena is 17 years old and constantly
sneaks out of the house to play football with her best friend Gian Carlo De
Luca. Luciana does not mind this because Gian Carlo is an heir of the De Lucas
and she hopes to one day merge the Marchesa company with the De Luca Company.
Tenten is also a grown young man who works hard to take care
of his family because they sold their land to take care of him when he got sick
right after they adopted him.
Serena’s 18th birthday is a few months away and her father
asks her what she wants for her birthday as well as her college entrance. We
ended as Serena told him that she wanted to go to Ascovia to see if she could
find out anything about her family…
