Episode 3
We started with Marcy flying back to the Philippines and her
family was there to welcome her back home. Emil asked why she returned and she
said that she just missed them.
After they went home, Emil talked to Marcy in private and
asked her to tell him why she really returned home. Marcy cried when she told
him that she had been arrested for shop lifting and even taken to jail. She had
asked her friend to tell Emil that she was on vacation in Brazil with the
family she was taking care of so that they would not know she was in prison.
Emil told her that she should have told them and Marcy told him that she did
not want them to know. She explained that Phil stole a necklace and put it in
her bag which was why she was arrested and Chelsea refused to let him testify
in her favor. Because of the deportation, Marcy had a criminal record abroad
and hence could not get a job anywhere else.
Back in Singapore, Phil could not stop looking for Marcy. He
visited her friend and she said that Marcy went back to the Philippines. Phil
asked for a telephone number or mailing address but the lady said that she did
not have any contact information.
Phil cried to Chelsea to bring Marcy back and his mother
said that Marcy was gone. Phil said that he missed her and Chelsea apologized
for not spending enough time with him. She hugged him and said that she would
try her best to be there for him. Phil still tried to contact Marcy so he sent
a letter to Marcy’s friend in Singapore who forwarded it to the Philippines.
When Marcy received it, she did not read it. She placed it in the drawer
unopened.
Emil and Teresa had to sell their farm when they could not
make the payments for the loan especially with the high interest rate. They
sold it to Andy; Pinang’s uncle and used the money to pay the loan. Uncle Andy
however allowed them to work and stay at the farm and give him 50% of their
earnings.
Pinang grew up along with her brothers Mackie and Julian as
they helped their family to take care of their farm. Pinang graduated from nursing school and
started to work at a clinic in their town. She refused to get involved with
anyone claiming that she had other priorities apart from dating and her friends
usually teased her for it.
Phil also grew up to be quite handsome but he dated a lot of
women. Chelsea who had remarried was upset with him because she always found him
with different women. She asked him why he always ran away from commitment but
Phil did not answer her.
Mackie asked Marcy to prepare her special beef stew for
dinner and he gathered his entire family to tell them that he had gotten a job
in Korea. He asked his parents to give him permission because he would be
earning three times the salary there. Marcy and Emil were not happy to hear the
news but they agreed to let him go.
Phil met with his friends and one of them; Terrence said
that he had been planning his wedding. He was going to marry a Pinay and he
asked Phil to be his best man. Phil packed up his stuff to leave but when he
was about to leave, his mother came to see him. Phil said that he would be in
the Philippines for a few days to attend his friend’s wedding and Chelsea asked
him to go back immediately because she had already enrolled him in business
school. Phil said he was not interested because he was already making enough
money online and left.
As Mackie was leaving, his girlfriend Lotlot also joined his
family so that they could escort him to the airport. The entire family left and
was saying goodbye to Mackie when Pinang caught Phil’s eye.
Phil arrived in the Philippines and Terrence gave him
directions to get to his Fiance’s place. He was waiting outside the airport for
a driver to pick him up when he saw Pinang. He held her gaze, smiled and winked
at her but Pinang looked away.
Phil’s driver arrived to take him to the bus stop and once
he got the right bus, he asked the conductor to wake him up because he was
tired. He put on his hood and slept.
After leaving Mackie at the hospital, Pinang went with her
friends to get her books for their nursing exams. They took the same bus Phil
was in and Pinang sat next to him. She did not realize it was him because his
face was covered in the hood as he slept. She too fell asleep and slept on Phil’s
shoulder.
When they arrived, Pinang and her friends rushed outside to
get a tricycle. Phil was the last to leave the bus when he saw Pinang. He
stopped the tricycle and went to ask for her name but Pinang said she was not
interested. She asked the driver to leave and Terrence who had arrived to pick
up Phil laughed at him.
Episode 4
Pinang and her friends arrived home and one of Pinang’s
suitors; Vincent was there to give something to her. Pinang thanked him and
said that her father would like it. Vincent realized that he would never get
anywhere with Pinang and left.
Phil settled in with Rose’s family and was happy to see that
they were so hospitable. He decided to look for Marcy’s profile online and
found someone by that name.
The following morning, Phil went out to look for Marcy. He
ran into Pinang in the market who was happily supplying eggs to her customers.
Phil went to talk to her but he ended up startling her so she dropped them. She
told him to pay for them but Phil said that he would only do it once Pinang
told him her name. Pinang refused to do it and turned him away because he would
not pay. Phil walked away but gave some money to a boy to give to Pinang for
the eggs.
When Pinang got the money, she said it was too much and ran
after Phil to return it to him. Phil said it was fine and offered to give her
some more to tell him her name but Pinang refused to accept it. When she got
home, she gave the money to Marcy to pay for their electric bill then went
ahead to tell her parents about the annoying guy that they met in the market.
Phil found Marcy’s resident but realized that it was the
wrong one when he met her.
Pinang forgot that they were supposed to attend Rose’s
wedding and did not have anything to wear but Miguela found a nice dress for
her.
In Singapore, Chelsea told her husband that she did not want
Phil to stay much longer in the Philippines because he might see Marcy. Her
husband asked why that was wrong and Chelsea told him that Phil did not know
that Marcy went to prison because of him.
When they arrived at the wedding, they were surprised to see
Phil there as well. Phil kept looking at Pinang throughout the wedding and
although she pretended not to notice it, she watched him too.
Phil gave a heartwarming Best Man’s speech at the wedding
saying that in marriage, one did not look for someone to live with but for
someone he/she could not live without. He received a round of applause for his
words as he congratulated the couple. Rose asked Phil where he had gone earlier
that day and he said that he had gone to look for his nanny but he went to the wrong
address. Rose told him to look for her in the registry and Phil said he would
try it out.
At the party, an American guy got too cozy with Miguela and
tried to harass her after he got drunk but Pinang stopped him. Phil escorted
the man out after he tried to harass Pinang but he seemed impressed by her stance.
When Pinang got home that evening, she found her uncle Andy
and his wife Sol outside the gate. Pinang welcomed them into the house but her
parents were not as glad to see them. Andy asked Emil and Marcy why they seemed
worried and Emil said that whenever Andy visited, it felt as if he would ask
them to leave the house any time.
Andy asked them not to worry for the moment but he would be
bringing a potential buyer from Manila to see the farm the following day. In
the morning, Andy and his wife brought the buyer and he seemed happy enough
with the property.
Pinang was afraid that the farm would be bought so she
brought some supplies to her uncle and asked him not to sell the land so that
they could buy it from him instead. Andy’s wife was not thrilled with the idea
but Andy told Pinang that they would discuss the issue and get back to her.
Phil got a tricycle to go to the registry to look for Marcy’s
records but her saw Marcy arrive at the school she worked at in a tricycle. He
got off and went to greet her. He told her that he was Phil and hugged her
happily saying that he had missed her so much. He told her that she forgot
something back in Singapore and went back to get it. Marcy entered the school
in a hurry as Phil left.
Phil learnt that Rose’s family knew Marcy too when he got
back to the house. He got an envelope and went back to the school to give it to
Marcy. He waited for her classes to be over as he reminisced on his time with
Marcy back in Singapore. When Marcy was leaving, Phil tried to help her with
her books but she said she was fine. She then gave Marcy the envelope he had
brought and we ended as Marcy went over the contents; letters that her children
had sent her when she was staying in Singapore…
