We started with Leah arriving home after seeing Clark at the
shop. The following morning, Clark’s grandmother and the rest of the family
went to wake him up at the shop since they were going to Leah’s house to ask
for her hand. Clark called Leah and told her that they were on their way.
He
then asked his grandmother where Aunt Jack was and Grandma Pacita asked him to
hurry up so that they would not be late. He did not want to tell him that his
aunt would not be joining them.
Aunt Jack went to see Jigs in his room and reluctantly asked
him if he wanted to go with her so that they could support Clark when he went
to ask for Leah’s hand. An angry Jigs told her that he would not go and he
would never accept Clark’s relationship with Leah.
Leah and her family as well as their neighbors helped set
things up before Clark and his family arrived. When Clark arrived, he was
welcomed warmly but the meeting did not go as well as everyone hoped. Clark’s
uncles belittled everyone in the tenement by calling them poor while Grandma
Pacita insisted that her grandson should have a grand wedding because he would
be her first grandson to get married. Mr. Sol told her that they did not have
enough money to have a grand wedding so they only wanted a simple wedding.
Tiffany, Leah and Mr. Sol went to speak privately and
concluded that they did not like Clark’s family; especially his uncles. Leah
asked her father to give them another chance and Mr. Sol said that it was okay since Leah
would be marrying Clark and not his family.
Leah scolded Clark because they had both agreed on having a
simple wedding and she asked him where this business of a grand wedding was
coming from; adding that they were the ones getting married. Clark hugged her
and told her that they would figure out things as they went along and asked her
not to be upset.
Jigs went out with Rico and Aunt Jack could not find him in
the house. She tried to call him but he refused to take her calls. She called
Rico to ask if he was with Jigs but Jigs warned Rico against saying anything so
Rico told Aunt Jack that he had not seen Jigs.
Aunt Jack called Clark to ask if Jigs had gone to the family
meeting and Clark told her that he had not seen Jigs. Aunt Jack apologized to
Clark for not going with him because she did not want to hurt Jigs and he told
her that he understood.
Clark received a call later from Rona and she told him that
she had heard that he was meeting the family in order to ask for Leah’s hand. Clark
told her it was true and went ahead to ask for her blessing because she was
Leah’s mother. Rona was glad and happily gave her blessing to him and Leah.
Leah caught Clark in the middle of the call and asked him who he was talking
to. Clark hang up and told her that it was her mother. Leah was angry and Clark
followed her to explain. When they were alone, Leah asked Clark how her mother
had gotten his number and he told her that he did not know. She asked what her
mother wanted and Clark said that she had called to ask about the family
meeting and he had taken the opportunity to ask for her blessing. Leah told him
that her mother had made them believe she was dead so he should not have asked
a “dead “ person for her blessing. Tiffany arrived then and told Clark that his
uncles were causing trouble. Clark’s uncles had brought expensive alcohol with
them since they figured the poor people at the tenement had never tasted
American alcohol. The bottle went missing at some point and the uncles accused
the rest of stealing. The bottle was eventually found and the people at the
tenement were offended for being made out to be thieves.
Clark went to apologize for his uncle’s behavior but his
grandmother said that she would handle them. She scolded them and told them
that they had to apologize to Leah’s friends because they might cost Clark his
wife and there would be no wedding to plan.
Jigs went to the bar with Rico and another friend but he
later decided that he would go to Leah’s house to disrupt the meeting. Rico
tried to stop him but there was nothing he could do.
Clark tried to apologize again for his uncles’ behaviors but
Tolayts told him that the person he needed to issue an apology to was Mr. Sol.
Clark went to see Mr. Sol to apologize personally to him but
Mr. Sol was very angry at that point. He told Clark that when he arrived at
their house, he had welcomed him even though he did not know him but his family
now looked down on the people in the tenement; where Leah grew up and accused
them of being thieves and wondered if they thought Leah to be a thief as
well. He then asked Clark whether he
should really entrust his daughter to such people… That was where we ended.
