Team Waissa lives on!
I'll Never Say Goodbye ended a week ago with the finale showing a happy ever story ending for Waldo and Aryann with a wedding.
Two years of Kenya Meets the Philippines and what the future holds...
Kenya Meets the Philippines (KEMPHI) is celebrating its
second year anniversary on the 30th of April. When I started KeMPhi
back in 2015, my vision was simple. All I wanted was to give Kenyans and fan of
Filipino showbiz a platform where they can be able to learn more about Filipino
showbiz since I had this wealth of information, having followed Filipino
showbiz since its debut in Kenya and I needed an outlet.
My Faithful Husband; The Review…
My Faithful husband’s final episode sneaked up on us so
discreetly that it was over before we even knew what was happening. I realized that
it was the last episode half through the episode I think; when Dean introduced
his fiancé to Emman and Mel and I won’t lie, I was pretty excited. It was a
rare moment for me not to know that a show is coming to an end and it has not
happened since Carmela. Unlike Carmela though, I think this is the best ending
I have ever watched in my Telesyre watching history, which will not go down
well with most people but I’ll tell you why this is the case.
Goodbye Munding…
We are well into the middle of the Serye, My FaithfulHusband and although the show has elicited mixed reactions from Kenyans, it has
been a most entertaining show. The show is not filled with promises of undying
love and is becoming a little too relatable which is the reason I think some
people are not comfortable with it.
Forevermore: Jay Vs Xander...
This battle has gone on for quite some time since we entered into book two of Forevermore. Jay or Xander is now the age old question as they seem to be pitted against each other Episode after episode. Agnes has refused to choose between them, leaving the rest of us to pick our respective sides much like the twins, Judy and Clauie.
John Lloyd Cruz sends Greeting to Kenyans!
Last week, I requested Kenyan fans to send in questions
for John Lloyd Cruz and Piolo
Pascual and have these Filipino stars answer them on video. This was
requested by the Philippine Embassy who are doing the very best to help Kenyans
get that fan interaction with their idols that we mostly don’t get the chance
to have.
"Island Dreams" Screening in Kenya!
I started KeMPhi over a year and when i did, one of my biggest dreams was to eventually have Kenyans see more of what makes the Filipino entertainment industry one of the most prosperous in the world. We've been watching their Telesyres for over a decade now and while we continue to enjoy them and love them, i fell that we are somehow still unacquainted with their movie industry which is also very good, hence the desire for us to get the chance to watch them. I actually talked about how great it would be if we could get to watch Pinoy movies a few weeks back when i posted the premier pictures for Bea Alonzo's latest movie, "How To Be Yours."
Introducing Forevermore...
Forevermore is the new show set to replace the previously concluded GMA show Losing Heaven on KTNKenya. The telesyre is a 2014 Star Creatives production starring one of Pinoy's biggest love teams; Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano (LizQuen)
Setting the Record Straight...
I started KeMPhi over a year ago and I’m thankful for the
little growth we have attained so far. During the last year, it has been hard
trying to get the attention of my fellow fans and I’m glad that it’s starting
to happen with the growing numbers on our social media platforms. Many were the
times I had endless monologues and I think it’s a small milestone having one or
two people to exchange a tweet with when a show is airing. As of now, Facebook is
growing quite fast and I’m grateful to everyone who has been following and
reading the daily recaps of our favorite Filipino Soap Operas. It has been a
bit overwhelming for me having to handle the numbers since the demands are increasing as the numbers swell. I therefore decided to write this post to clarify some
of the issues with you guys.
Why we say NO TO SPOILERS at KeMPhi!
This article has been long overdue and I think it’s about
time I published it before the new show, Loosing Heaven on KTNKenya develops any further. When Two Wives was airing, I was
extremely vocal about the publishing of spoilers on my Facebook page because I
noticed just how much we love disclosing information about events that are yet
to happen in the show.
Calling out KTN KENYA!
The previous weeks have been eventful ones following the development of Bridges of Love as it continues to get more and more intriguing! The series undoubtedly ranks among the best written and produced shows so far and we can only thank KTN Kenya for always giving us the creme of the best shows from the Philippines. This week however, I found myself immensely disappointed with our favorite TV station owing to an issue that I feel quite strongly about, and hence had to address.
KENYA Needs KIMXI!
![]() |
| Kim & Xian at the 9th Star Magic Ball. |
KimXi for those yet to know is the Love Tandem composed of
Filipino stars Kim Chiu and Xian Lim. The two are extremely
successful due to their endowment of multiple talents such as acting, singing and
hosting among others. We have been fortunate enough to watch a lot of Kim
Chiu’s shows here such as Chances, The Two of Us, Her Mother’s
Daughter and recently Ikaw Lamang.
CARMELA POOR ENDING!
It has been a week now since the unexpected finale of Carmela. I say unexpected because it is undoubtedly one of those endings that
we never saw coming added to the fact that KTNKenya
did not deem it necessary to tell us that it was the last episode. As I watched
it on Monday, it dawned on me then that it was the last episode since I did not
see any more conflicts that needed solving, especially after Fernando killed himself.
Villain Appreciation!
As the year comes to an end, I saw it fit to celebrate some
of the amazing characters we have had on our screens this year. Being a huge
fan, I cannot fail to notice that it is not always the protagonists who make a
show great, but without the presence of the antagonists, we would not have
those irritable people that create conflicts and make a show worth watching. I
therefore want to recognize and acknowledge some of the incredible actors who
played antagonistic and villainous characters that we have watched this year!
1. Jake Cuenca and Christopher De Leon as Franco.
OPEN LETTER TO JAKE CUENCA...
I am writing this letter to Mr. Cuenca, to thank him and appreciate a good person, an extremely
talented artist who knows better than the next man, the true value of having
people look up to you, love you and admire you.
THE FEMALE FOLK, AND SOAP OPERAS....
Since I started this blog, it has been a whirlwind of
experiences, all of which are really good and some of the feedback I’ve gained,
especially from the men is interesting. All they want to know is why the ladies
are so obsessed with soap operas that only portray the mushy kind of love that
is foreign not only to the Kenyan culture but to Africa as a whole. Surely,
romance never came naturally to our Kenyan men. They are complaining about the
pressure these kinds of programs are bringing in their love lives as the ladies
expect such kind of treatment as they see on these Telenovelas….
That said, I am quite torn over this issue, finding close to
no solution because most of them are sincerely not within the range of becoming
possible… How really can you stop a woman from watching soap operas? Here are some of the ways i thought of and i hope you guys can tell me which one can actually work...
1. Ban the shows from airing… That is as far as I can go with that sentence; I can barely tolerate the absurdity of this idea. Why on earth would we get rid of the best entertainment we have?I often saw that to me, a soap opera is a girl’s version of football… Imagine you being banned from watching that Real Madrid vs Barcelona match and tell me… putting a damp on this idea altogether, no one has the kind of power achieve such a thing as to ban soap operas from airing!
2. Keep your lady from watching Telenovelas… You could accomplish this easy task by ensuring you are with your lady 24hours a day and monitoring her television programs.
3. Do not buy a Television at all… This is close to a sane idea, only if you ensure that you have no neighbors your lady could go to and that you don’t like watching any TV.
4. Date a woman who hates soap operas… This is the best idea so far but also needs a lot of caution; we all know that no woman really hates soap operas!Soon as she watches two episodes consecutively, they are hooked! Keep her away from any situation that she will be able to watch the program uninterrupted for two days. If she gets the flow of the program, you are done.
5. Step up your game and become the romantic type! Yes, I can almost hear the sarcastic laugh over this idea so I’ll leave it at that…

If you guys have better solutions
to better escape this epic conundrum currently facing our society all would be
swell… my only request being that none of you try to cure ME of it… I quite
enjoy my little obsession since an hourly dose of Xian
lim, or Paulo Avelino or even Coco martin does me more good than harm… ;-)
OPEN LETTER TO @KTNKenya
I hope you guys have been enjoying the show currently airing on KTN Kenya at SIX PM. (They almost gave me heart failure when they mistakenly aired it at FIVE on Monday and the lengths I go to just to watch it at 6, they are a little embarrassing to say the least, so i wont tell….) It stars the genius combination of Bea Alonzo as Rose and Paulo Avelino as Patrick. I hope we learn to call them by their real names instead of being like “hii kipindi ni ya Katrina,… Ni ya Cealo.., Ni ya Jackie wa More than Love….” It’s a bit tedious to keep up, so I have come to a conclusion that using their actual names is easier.
