Forevermore: The Review...

Forevermore's finale ended a few days ago amid mixed reactions from Kenyan fans. It was a most extraordinary Telesyre and Kenya fell for LizQuen tandem  so effortlessly. The two, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil  played Agnes and Xander respectively, better known as Xagnes. I site mixed reactions because I did a slight miscalculation with the episodes and announced the finale two days before it was supposed to end and for this, I offer my sincerest of apologies to Kenyan fans that follow KeMPhi. Let's move on to the show's review....

Forevermore was undoubtedly one of the most interesting show's we have ever watched.  It was different in it's own way with the incorporation of romantic comedy which meshed well with the drama. The show was laced with light moments and that was the biggest high for me. Drama is always great but the light moments were specially the ones that made the show stand out.

The casting was also exceptional and I think Sofia Andres especially outdid herself playing the role of troubled Kate Saavedra. The show i feel didn't have a distinct antagonist which is more realistic in nature because I believe that there is no completely bad person, we just sometimes do bad things so that we can get what we want or need. We had well rounded characters who did both good and bad things in accordance with the situations they were in.

The one thing a lot of people are complaining about is that the show solely focused on Xagnes' story and we would have liked to see more side plots of other people involved in the show, like the twins Judy and Clauie, Karen, Andrew, Jay.... While I agree with this, I think that it shouldn't come as a surprise to us because from the very beginning, the show has always been about Agnes and Xander and the producers never alluded to adding information about the rest of the characters. We we're only given snippets of details about them so that we knew where they fit into the story, but ultimately, the story wasn't about them.

The things i would criticize from the story is first; the way Alex, Xander's father died. While his death fit into the plot, I think that it wasn't well executed. It just happened from nowhere. This might have been attributed to issues on set that we don't know about but that's just my opinion... The other thing was that some plot lines seemed to have been forgotten along the way and we never got to learn what really happened. For instance, it wasn't clear what happened to the Saavedras and the land ownership issue of La Presa. Another example is the French investors who wanted to fund Agnes' project and also the annulment case of Buboy and Marites(although we can conclude this last one because Marites finally gave Mirasol the go ahead to be with Buboy). There should have been a conclusion to these issues.

As for the finale, I think we have to open our minds up and not expect a wedding all the time. I like it when producers try to do something different especially with finales because they have a way of being the same for every show, which is why I was extremely satisfied with Forevermore's ending. Agnes and Xander were able to let go of their differences and make up and we can only assume that the other characters moved on. The key issue here was that team forever was restored, no matter how differently this was done.
For the first time, I'm going to sample some of the reactions from Kenyan fans after the finale...

Kebaso Zulu;  the ending was fairly good....it was great that xander and agnes finally reunited...but the problem was that they left us hanging...its as if the soap was acted by only two people...what about jay..andrew..alex...the twins...kate...how did they end up...and how did the people of la pressa react towards agnes and xanders reunion?
Jjuunniiee Yyuullee Vveerraahh ;The worst ending so far.... Hope they play part three of forevermore soap to see what happened to Jay, Alex, Andrew, marites, julius and Sherry roting in jail
Faith Eksah;Today am left speechless and in tears, cant believe its finished and i wont be rushing home as i used to. yaani no more superman vs batman, no more xagnes. Although todays episode was soo sweet, romantic and emotional. Cant wait for tomorrow's repeat
Mohammed Korir; i wasn't happy of their reunion. wish jay could've married calay while xander could've married alex i was made to believe in love forever.
Elizabeth Nyamokami; Best soap ever though we didn't get to see the reaction from both families on matters Xander and Agnes getting together, they deserved a wedding at least. But it's been a good one
Seleyan Brandy; In a word said that it was Awesome.
Overall, it was a great show and i wish to thank and appreciate Lizquen fans that helped us along the way and who we now consider friends. Thanks also to the Kenyan audience, especially those who had watched Forevermore earlier for giving the rest of us the chance to watch the show without any spoilers. We didn't have even a single spoiler incident and I urge us to continue on in the same spirit.

You're welcome to give your comments on this post... :D
