Episode 21
We started with Phil carrying Pinang over to the well and
she could not stop staring at him.
When Phil placed Pinang down, he said that he would fetch
some water for her to clean off the mud but Pinang rushed off to go to the bathroom
and said there would be water there. When she got to the bathroom though, there
was no water and she had to leave again to fetch it. Phil insisted on carrying
the water over to the bathroom for her so Pinang let him. When she locked
herself inside, she realized that the water would not be enough so walked out
to go fetch some more but Phil was right outside the door with another bucket.
He hit his head on Pinang’s forehead and she finally asked him to stop helping
her. Phil asked her why she did not want him to help her and Pinang said that
every time he did, something bad happened. She then proceeded to enumerate all
the times he tried to help but messed up things. Phil smiled and commented that
Pinang must have a good memory.
Julian arrived home with Grandpa Apo and asked what happened
to them because they were dirty. Pinang said she fell into the mud trying to
help a duck then asked Julian to bring her a change of clothes as she returned
to the bathroom.
Grandpa Apo asked what happened because Pinang was rush in
her explanation and Pinang hoped he would not say that he carried her. Phil
said that it was Pinang who fell in the mud and he helped her. He removed his
shirt to clean up on the wall and Apo asked if he had something to change into.
Phil said he didn’t have any and Grandpa Apo asked Julian to lend him some
clothes because it was indecent of him to walk around shirtless with Pinang
around.
Marcy and Emil were got back from the market and realized
that Pinang was on edge when she left the bathroom and was skittish with Phil
around. Marcy set to prepare her lunches and Phil ordered one from her. Pinang
finally got her chance to escape when Nars and Miggy called her to do some
drill exams to prepare for their bar exams. Pinang changed into her nurse
uniform and walked out but then rushed back into the house because she forgot
her books!
Mackie was able to find a renting place for his volcanizing
shop while Lotlot called to tell him that she already had a job as a substitute
teacher.
Marcy had to change for school so she asked Grandpa Apo to
add some ingredients to her stew after a while but he put them on too early so
they overcooked. Marcy said it was fine and proceeded to pack the food. She
left him some lunch since he said he would stay home and dry his broom sticks.
She left Phil’s lunch with him and asked him to give it to him.
Marcy left with Emil to go to school since he said he would
attend to her food stand there as she was giving her classes.
Pinang did the practice exam with Nars, Miggy and Vincent.
Later, Pinang asked Miggy for her pocket wifi so she could submit her US Visa
application. Miggy said they would have to get it from home because she would
not join them that evening; her mother was home from Singapore for a visit.
A new nurse was also introduced to them and he had Nars
dumbfounded. As he went home with Pinang that afternoon, he could not help but
gush about the new nurse saying that he had a crush on him. When Nars talked
about how he felt, Pinang could not help but relate it to how she felt around
Phil.
When Phil went to get his lunch, Grandpa Apo asked him to
eat with him instead of going to the duck pen. Nars and Pinang were hungry when
they got there but Pinang said she was fine when she saw Phil was there. She
went inside the house and said that she had to clean.
Mackie arrived home and refused to eat too. Phil
congratulated him on his new shop and Mackie invited him to go there if he
needed anything fixed. As they ate, Nars
said that they brought Miggy’s wifi so that they could look up some stuff for
their reviews online. Pinang was dying from hunger inside the house but she
could not walk out with Phil there. When he finally left, she rushed outside
and ate desperately and Mackie joined him.
Emil sold all of Marcy’s lunches and went to wait for her to
finish her lessons. After the last student left, Emil told Marcy that he would
have been better off if he finished his studies like his siblings. Marcy told
him that it was not too late and he could enroll in a course if he wanted to.
Episode 22
Marcy prepared dinner and gave food to Pinang and Nars
before they went to review. She told them that they had to eat properly so that
they could concentrate on their studies.
Phil had a video call with Terrence and he was being briefed
about a new client they needed to draft a proposal for. Phil said he would do
it before the deadline was up but his internet connection died. He had
forgotten to pay his phone bill back in Singapore so he could not access the
internet.
Phil remembered Nars saying that they had wifi so he borrowed a phone from Dahlia’s daughter and
texted Pinang to ask if he could call her. Pinang was busy eating so she
ignored it but Nars took her phone and texted Phil back. Phil called after the
go ahead but Pinang refused to pick it up. She told Nars to do it because he
was the one who told Phil to call.
Phil was disappointed when Nars picked up but he went ahead
to ask if he could go over and use their wifi because he needed to do some
work. Nars said it was fine and told him to go over, making Pinang upset.
While at work, Julian continued to be infatuated by Margarete
and she played a trick on him to take on her shift the next day saying that she
had to do some work for school.
Emil hurt his hand trying to hammer a fence and Pinang was
attending to him when Phil arrived. He told Marcy that he was there to use the
wifi since he needed to work and hoped she did not mind. Marcy said it was fine
and Phil went ahead to the hut.
Pinang said that she was the one who would use the wifi
first and Phil did not mind. Once she was done with her Visa application, she handed
the router to Phil and told him to go home with it because it was getting late.
Phil said that he wanted to work there with them and return the router once he
was done because she might need it later. Nars did not mind and said it was
fine.
Meanwhile, Pinang could not concentrate and kept watching
Phil as he worked. Nars noticed it and asked Phil to show them what kind of
work he did. Phil told them about the app business he started with his college
mates and Pinang barely listed because she was too busy staring at him. After
Phil was done, Pinang said she would continue the review the following day and
left Phil with Nars.
When she got to her
room, the window was directly overlooking them so Pinang closed it. Phil asked
Nars why she did so and he said that maybe there were mosquitoes.
Pinang tried to study in her room but she was not
comfortable with the windows closed and with the idea of Phil being outside.
Nars left and Phil stayed back working till late. Pinang peered through the
window once in a while and was irritated when she found him still there. She
was glad when he was no longer there but then he texted to say that he was
waiting outside to return the router to her, Pinang ignored the texts but felt
bad that he was waiting outside in the dark so she went to see him. Phil was no
longer there and she was mad that he could not even wait so she went back to
her room. When she opened the window, Phil was right outside and they both
screamed in surprise. Phil said he had gone there because he noticed her light
was on and wanted to give her back the router. He held it out to her and their
hands brushed as Pinang took it. She her had back pulled back instantly and
Phil said good night. Pinang was left examining her hands and the causes of
increased heart rate; one of which was being in love!
Terrence called Phil on his way to Dahlia’s place because he
was impressed with the proposal. He asked Phil how he was able to do it without
a connection and Phil said he worked at Pinang’s place because she had wifi.
Terence teased Phil about being inspired by Pinang and asked if he liked her.
Phil finally admitted to Terrence that he liked Pinang but he could not pursue
her because he had promised her father that he would not date her.
In the morning, Marcy prepared food for her business and
handed Julian, Mackie and Grandpa Apo a pack each. Grandpa Apo did not want to
accept his but Mackie made sure he took it when he went with him to the market.
Phil went to get an
order from Marcy for his lunch and Pinang was irritated to see him. Marcy told
Phil that he was her good luck charm because he was her first customer but
Pinang commented that Marcy’s food was good and she did not need a good luck
charm to sell it. After Phil left, Marcy asked Pinang if she was mad at Phil for
something and she said that she was only
stressed because of the bar exams.
Phil ran into Grandpa Apo at the market and invited him out
for ice cream and a chat.
Pinang went to the clinic to the clinic to take more
practice exams with Nars, Miggy and Vincent. She got a 90% score which she was
not satisfied with because she wanted a perfect score. The nurse helping them
said it was a good score because she had to take three exams to pass the bar.
She told them that it was because she was distracted by her crush a week before
her exam so she asked them to stay focused.
When they were going home, Pinang swore that she would never
be distracted by anyone and denied having any liking for Phil. That was where
we ended…
