Episode 49
We started with Nars and Miggy teasing Pinang about Gab
being with Phil. They said that the two of them were probably hanging out
together because they were both heart broken.
Emil brought someone with him to buy some ducks from Phil
and he bought a dozen of them. In the evening, Grandpa Apo asked Marcy and Emil
why they were getting Phil customers for his ducks and Marcy explained that if
the ducks were the only reason he was sticking around, they wanted to help him
sell them because his mother might be missing him back in Singapore.
Felipa called from the states and said she would be going to
the Philippines to visit. She added that she would go to Palawan on vacation
and asked Marcy to put the phone on loud speaker so that she could tell Grandpa
Apo that she wanted to take him along. After the call, Grandpa Apo told Marcy
that he did not want to go but Marcy asked him to go so that he could get a
little pampered and spend more time with his daughter.
The following day, Grandpa Apo got ready to go to Manila to
see Felipa; Emil and Marcy were going to accompany him. Grandpa Apo stopped by
Phil’s duck pen to say goodbye to him and wished that his ducks would still be
around when he returned.
Gab dropped by to see Pinang, Nars and Miggy after their
classes and agreed to go with them to the mall. Pinang had saved up some money
from her Caramel Custards and planned on buying a pair of football shows for
Julian. Before they left, Gab received a call and Nars who was standing next to
her said that the call was from Phil.
After Gab took the call, she told Pinang that a friend of
hers wanted to talk to her because she had a problem so she apologized and said
that she had to leave immediately.
Gab drove off in her car while Nars hailed a tricycle.
Pinang thought that they would go to the mall but Nars told the driver to
follow Gab’s car. Gab arrived at a field and Pinang was upset that they had
followed her. Phil and Julian arrived and Pinang had to hide along with Nars
and Miggy so that they would not be seen.
After Phil and Julian passed by, Pinang rushed behind Gab’s
car to see what was happening. Phil and Julian greeted Gab then proceeded on to
train. Pinang broke into a wide smile when she realized that Phil was the one
who had been training Phil and Gab was only helping him. She watched them for a
while as Nars and Miggy laughed at her reaction and then went home.
When she arrived home, Mackie was making rice since Marcy
was not at home. Marcy called to check on them and got to talk to Pinang just
as she arrived home. Julian arrived later and Pinang told him that they needed
to talk. Julian asked if it was serious and Pinang asked him why he had not told
her that Phil was the one training him. Julian and Mackie exchanged a look and Pinang
asked Mackie if he too knew. Mackie said that all of them knew but they decided
not to tell her because it would be weird for her if she learnt that Phil was
training Julian. Julian explained that Phil offered to help him because he
really needed the scholarship. Pinang smiled widely and told Julian that it was
okay with her and then proceeded to make her brothers dinner.
Phil ran into Nars and Miggy and they told him Pinang
already knew that he was the one training Phil.
The following morning, Phil texted Pinang when he arrived at
the duck pen and told her that he was sorry for keeping the secret about
Julian. Pinang texted back saying that it was fine and Phil could not help but
smile.
Julian got exhausted from his training and was unable to do
his assignment because he fell asleep. In the morning, he had to rush to school
and finish the assignment because he had been teamed up with Margaret. He was
late for a meeting with the varsity coach who announced that only two of the
players would be picked from everyone who signed up and they had to learn to
balance their school work with football.
someone came to buy Phil’s ducks but he overpriced them and
refused to negotiate the price. The woman said she would buy from another place
because Phil’s ducks were too expensive. Another buyer came and Phil took did
the overpricing trick but the man bought it because it would cost him more to
drive out and get other ducks because of the ducks. Phil was disappointed but
he agreed to sell the ducks.
Pinang, Nars and Miggy finally bought Julian a pair of shoes
and when they were leaving the mall, they each got a call from a hospital for a
job interview.
Episode 50
Pinang got home and found her parents were already back from
Manila. They brought gifts from Felipa for the entire family and Pinang gave
them the good news that she already had
a job interview.
That evening, Julian did not arrive home in time for dinner
and Pinang told her parents that they needed to talk to him so that he would
not put in too much time in training and neglect his studies. He was also getting
too tired and did not have time to review his lessons. Marcy decided to go get
him and Pinang went with her.
During training, Julian told Phil that the varsity team only
needed two players and Phil told him that he was good enough to be selected.
Gab chipped in and told Julian to be as hard working as Pinang who did not give
up on what she wanted until she got it.
When Marcy and Pinang arrived at the field, Marcy said that
she wanted to see if Julian had been making progress with Phil teaching him.
Julian showed off his skills then asked Phil to play. Pinang was thrilled to
see Phil display exceptional skills but she checked herself when Marcy gave her
a look. The encouraged Gab to play as well but she hit the ball in the wrong
direction and almost hit Marcy. Phil dived to head it out of the way and fell
hard on the ground. Pinang rushed over to see if he was fine and check him for
injuries. After she verified he was okay, the five of them sat down so that
Julian could eat as Phil told everyone about how Marcy had gone to all of his
games when she was with him in Singapore. He teared up as he told Marcy how
grateful he was that she treated him as his son. Phil talked about how he
neglected his studies but Marcy made sure that he studied and Pinang told
Julian to make sure that his studies were not affected.
Pinang accepted Phil’s friend request and he was delighted
when he saw it.
The following day in class, Julian kept falling asleep and
the teacher said she would give the class a pop quiz. Julian ended up getting
5/15 in the test and Margaret told him that he had to put a little more seriousness
to his studies.
Pinang, Nars and Miggy all went to the interview but only
Pinang got the job. Pinang was with Phil when she got the call back and she
thanked him because he had inspired her answers during the interview. Phil also
thanked to Pinang for accepting his friend request. Pinang however decided to try
applying in another hospital along with Nars and Miggy hoping that the three of
them would work in the same place.
Julian went home early that evening to review his subjects
because the one he had failed had alarmed him. Unfortunately, Pinang saw the
test as she was doing the laundry and showed it to Mackie.
Mackie told Marcy that he was applying for Jobs abroad
because he too wanted to help pay off Phil’s debt. He said that Julian was
doing his best to qualify for the scholarship so that they would not have to
spend on his tuition while Pinang would soon get a nursing job and he too
wanted to do something to help. Marcy said that they had agreed no one would
leave but Mackie told her that there was nothing to worry about since he had
not gotten the job yet.
Phil called Terrence to ask if he could give Pinang a flower
without seeming as if he was courting her. Terrence gave Phil the go ahead but
Pinang refused to accept the flower no matter how much Phil insisted that he
was not courting her. Phil said it was for good luck in her interview but Phil
said it still seemed as if he was courting her and she had given her word to
her parents not to let him court her. Phil apologized to her and left but the
flower fell down after Phil put it in his pocket. Pinang was at a loss whether
to pick it up or not but she eventually did when a tricycle almost ran over it.
Phil did not find the flower with him when he arrived to
train Julian. Gab joined them at practice but she did not have her training
gear so she stood by the sidelines to watch them play. She could not help but
have her eye on Phil as he played.
Nars and Miggy could not help but tease Pinang when they saw
the flower and she tried to explain that she just rescued it. We ended as she
smiled and smelt the flower…
