No Greater Love; Throwback to the 1970s…

Am expecting that you guys have been catching the new Filipino show on KTN Kenya, weekdays 6pm. The show, Ikaw Lamang; (Which we are referring to as No Greater Love) for me is starting out just fine with a collection of the biggest names in the Filipino entertainment industry.  However, the biggest statement the show has made I think has to do with the costumes as you all know, they have to depict the 1970s as they truly were. I am not old enough to know much about the 70s but I believe they did a good job of it.

All that said, I am going to put into words what all of you have been thinking; Franco Hidalgo!!!

The character, played by Jake Cuenca has to be the most absurd (For lack of a better word) of all of them, and as much as I hate saying this, looks quite ridiculous. In his defense though, he is portraying an era which thought platform shoes and printed tops to be the in thing. (I got that “What Now???!” look when Franco first popped on screen)

It therefore came as no surprise to me when I found out that the show also brought a lot of criticism when it aired in The Philippines last year with both positive and negative views being expressed over Franco’s fashion. It created quite a controversy that Jake Cuenca had to call people out on his twitter page; and quoting
 “An actor commits to a role regardless if he or she looks good or not… If I always wanted to look good I would have been a model a long time ago.” 
You’ve got to give him a thumbs up for this statement, which I completely agree with.

I wish you guys would let us know what you think about the show; are you enjoying it? What is your take on the costumes? Loving it or hating it? Does the show capture the period, 1970s? Let us know…
