Episode 15
We started with Phil and Arthur going to a farm to inquire
if they could hire land to keep the ducks that Phil had bought for Pinang.
The owner told them that he did not
have any space on his farm because he was going to plant palm trees on his
farm.
Mackie went to have some food with Lotlot and she asked him
if he applied for the place she had referred to him. Mackie said he did not
because the pay was not enough. He tried to explain to Lotlot that he did not
mind the kind of work he did as long as it paid enough for him to help his
family. He was frustrated because he still had no job offers abroad and he said
that he was just wasting his time there. Lotlot got upset and left him without
touching her food.
When Mackie went home later, Marcy confronted him about
looking for a job abroad. Mackie said that he only felt pressured and Marcy
said that there was no need for him to be impatient because they had agreed that
he would not go abroad yet. Mackie then told his family about his argument with
Lotlot and he had told her that he was only wasting his time. Marcy explained
to him that Lotlot was upset because he implied that he was wasting his time by
being with her. Mackie said that he would text Lotlot to apologize but she
texted back asking who he was.
Mackie visited Lotlot at her place and personally apologized
to her for what he had said. He explained that he just felt the pressure of
taking care of his family because he was the oldest.
The boy Phil sent to but Grandma Apo’s brooms brought them
to him after buying them but he left the gate open when he went inside. The
ducks went out and everyone at the house had to run after them all over the
streets. Phil was rushing to catch one duck and ran into Pinang, Nars and Miggy.
Pinang told him not to run after them and they would naturally go to him,
adding that they needed more space to run around. Phil thanked her for the advice
and Pinang said it was nothing because it was general knowledge.
When all the ducks were inside, Phil told Arthur and Dahlia
that Pinang told him that the ducks needed a place to run around. They
suggested that Phil ask Emil to let him rent out a space in his farm for the
ducks but Phil did not want to. He said Marcy asked him to leave the last time
he was there so he did not want to disturb them.
Dahlia and Arthur decided to go talk to Emil instead and
asked him to let them rent out a part of his farm for a period of around three months.
They convinced him that it would be extra
income for them and Emil said that he had to discuss the deal with Marcy and
Andy.
When Emil talked to his family, he said that Phil needed to
rent their land for a while and would pay 50,000 for it. Pinang and Mackie were
pessimistic because the deal might not go through again but Phil told them that
they had nothing to lose by trying it out since the land was already available.
Later that evening, Miggy brought her laptop for Pinang to
look up the requirements she needed for a job abroad and she was able to note
everything down.
The following morning, Emil went to see Andy to tell him
that Phil wanted to rent out some land. Andy said that he was fine with it and
whatever money they made was theirs. After that, he went to Dahlia’s house and
told Phil that he could transfer the ducks to the farm.
Phil left with Dahlia to Emil’s place later to learn the
requirements that they needed. Emil showed them the space that he would give
them and told them about the material they would need to but to build the duck
pen.
Phil bought the materials and with the help of the hands
Emil had hired from his farm, they were able to build the Duck pen.
Episode 16
After they made the pen, a neighbor arrived to bring Emil
some bananas. Emil asked Julian to boil them but Marcy arrived home from work
and Julian went to help her with her things because he wanted her to be the one
to boil the bananas. Phil went to help Marcy as well and ended up fussing
around her.
When the bananas were ready, everyone was invited to have
some. Pinang arrived with Nars, Miggy and Vincent and they also had some
bananas before heading to the hut to study.
Phil noticed Vincent and asked who he was. The guys working
with him told him that he was Pinang’s suitor but he had been rejected.
At the hut, no one was able to concentrate on their studies.
Vincent kept staring at Pinang which made her uncomfortable while Miggy could
not help but look at Phil who was at the house and she disturbed Nars as she
turned to face him.
Emil asked Julian to invite Phil over for dinner but he said
that he was already full from the bananas and Miss Dahlia had already asked him
to join them for dinner. As Phil was leaving, Miggy called him and he went to
ask them if they were done studying so that they could go out. Nars and Miggy
wanted to go with him but Pinang said she was busy. Phil was disappointed so he
told Nars and Miggy that it was better that they study. Nars and Miggy sat back
down and Phil joined them. They started making a lot of noise so Pinang said
that she would study in the house. Everyone then decided to go because Pinang
had already left.
As Pinang was studying, she received two phone calls from
Vincent but she rejected them. She finally picked up on the third ring and she
shouted for Vincent to leave her alone but it was Phil. He said he wanted to
thank her for allowing him to move his ducks at their place but Pinang told him
that it was her parents’ decision and not hers. Phil felt stupid since he had
nothing else to tell her and hang up.
Pinang asked Marcy for permission to go into town to get
materials she needed for the bar exam but she actually went there to apply for
a passport.
Julian continued to cover for Margaritte at work because she
was always late. He later found out that Margaritte was the granddaughter of
the owner and had moved from Manila.
Phil arrived early with Mum Dahlia the following morning to
bring the ducks over. He gave Dahlia the cheque to give to Emil and Marcy because he
felt embarrassed. Emil accepted it and told Dahlia that they would be there to
help Phil with whatever he needed.
They moved the ducks in the pen and Phil learnt how to feed
them and take care of them from the other workers. Emil told him that he did
not have to stay because he was paying people to take care of the ducks but
Phil said that he wanted to learn and had nothing else to do. He had noticed
that the ducks lay on their eggs so he asked Emil why they did that. Emil
explained to him that they did so to give their eggs warmth. He added that it
was their motherly instinct to take care of the ducklings until they grew up.
Phil listened and finally said that the ducks were lucky to have such caring
mothers.
Later that evening, Emil had a conversation with Marcy about
Phil and asked her if Phil was neglected as a child. Marcy said that neglect
was too strong a word but his mother never had time for him because she worked
too much.
Phil woke up before dawn to go pick up the eggs his ducks
lay and put them at Pinang’s duck pen. He was busy laying them there when
Pinang tried to attack him with a broom thinking he was a thief. She was
surprised to see that it was Phil when he turned around. That was where we
ended…
