We started with Evelyn telling Larry that she would stop
going to work so that she could continue looking for Ana.
A year later, Evelyn kept looking for Ana and she refused to
go to her sister’s birthday party because she needed to print more fliers for
Ana because the ones she had put up the previous month were faded. Larry told
her that they had to continue living their lives because they had done their best
to find Ana but they had not. Evelyn told him that if they had done their best,
they could have found her. She got angry at Larry for giving up and told him to
leave the house. Larry asked her whether she wanted to be separated and Evelyn
said that she was not like him who had accepted that they lost their daughter.
Years later, Odessa continued keeping Ana. Ana had grown up
with a dog and she learnt to behave like it as well; she walked on all fours, ate
without using her hands, barked and howled like it too.
Aunt Cochin who is now very old still lived with Odessa and
she took care of her. Aunt Cochin was distressed about Ana and asked Odessa for
how long she was planning on keeping her instead of returning her to her
parents. Odessa said that she was glad to keep Ana with her because everytime
she suffered, she felt as if she was inflicting pain on Evelyn. She had been
keeping tabs on her and she was glad that her marriage to Larry had been
affected as well and Larry had moved to America.
Meanwhile, Evelyn’s sister Helen tried her best to make
Evelyn continue on with her life and accept the fate of her lost daughter but
Evelyn said that she would never lose the hope of finding Ana until her last
breath.
As Evelyn was going home one evening, she saw two guys
trying to harass a girl who was drunk so she helped her. Evelyn took the girl
to her house and took care of her until her father came to get her. The girl
kept mumbling about her mother and so she became friends with Evelyn after
that. Helen said that it was a good they that they had found each other because
the girl was in need of her mother while Evelyn yearned for her daughter.
Odessa killed Ana’s dog after it defended her and Ana could
not howling all night because she was sad about the dog’s death. Odessa went to
see her and told her to shut up.
In the evening, two boys visited the hut that Ana lived in
and they were scared out of their wits from what they saw. They called Ana a
monster and ran off, leaving the match sticks they had used as light behind. The
hut caught on fire causing Ana to run away from the flames.
Ana ran into the forest and although she was scared herself,
the people who ran into her were more scared of her. The villagers called the
police and said that there was a monster roaming around and they had to find
it.
Odessa was furious with Ana’s escape and she was not able to
find her. When the police went to see her, she said that the creature had trespassed
on her property and she hoped they would find it.
Ana slept in the forest and continued walking around. In the
evening, she stumbled on a camp site and the man staying there saw her. He was
surprised when he saw what Ana looked like and we ended as he directed his
torch on her…
