We started with Clark trying to convince his uncles to go
and apologize to Mr. Sol because their behavior might cause a problem but they
did not want to.
They said that they were afraid of Mr. Sol and his neighbors
who had almost attacked them; adding that there were other girls and Clark
could easily get someone else to marry. Clark got serious and told them that
the only person he loved was Leah and he would never be able to let her go.
Leah talked to Grandma Pacita and inquired about her health.
She said she was fine although her sons were irritating her. She asked Leah not
to worry because things would work out for the best.
Clark’s uncles apologized to the people at the Tenement and
when Mr. Sol and asked him to forgive their behavior. One of them offered Mr. Sol his hand and Mr.
Sol shook it as a sign that everything had been resolved.
Everyone sat around to discuss the wedding and Leah said
that they had agreed to have it the following year so that she and Clark could
save up for it. Grandma Pacita wanted a specific wedding date and Leah chose
Valentine’s Day. Mr. Sol hushed everyone and asked them why they were already
saving a date for the wedding when he had not yet agreed to let Leah get married.
There was a nervous silence as everyone wondered why he had said that. Clark
stood up to give his speech to Mr. Sol so that he could ask for his daughter’s
hand. Clark told Mr. Sol that he had never been in love before and he really
loved Leah. He said that he would do anything for her; leave America, fetch
water for the entire tenement and even give his life for her if it came to
that. He helped Leah stand up and asked Mr. Sol if he could marry his daughter.
Mr. Sol was very touched and he stood up from his seat to tell Clark that he
could not have asked for a better son in law.
Aunt Jack was out looking for Jigs when Rico called him to
tell him that he had been with Jigs earlier but he had left saying that he was
going to disrupt the family meeting.
Jigs arrived at Leah’s place and watched in tears as Clark
and Leah held each other happily and everyone seemed happy for them. Mr. Sol
was thanking Grandma Pacita for going to see him when Jigs showed himself and
demanded that he talk to Leah. He said that he would not leave before he had
spoken to Leah. Mr. Sol told him to say what he wanted to say but then Aunt
Jack arrived and managed to salvage the situation. She said she was sorry for
being late but had to go congratulate Clark and Leah. She was only there to
stop Jigs and after her little speech, she went to talk to him.
Aunt Jack asked Jigs why he had gone there and he
sarcastically told her that he too wanted to congratulate Clark. His mother
told him that he should not have gone there because he might even have caused
Leah’s father to be sick because he had a heart condition. Jigs felt sorry
because he had not thought about that adding that he only wanted to ruin the
day for Leah and make her see how much she had hurt him. Aunt Jack told him that
it would not have helped him with anything because Clark and Leah would still
be together.
Clark went to say good bye to Leah and told her that he
would handle Jigs.
The moment Jigs arrived home, Clark asked him to leave Leah
alone because he was hurting her and it was not a competition. Jigs got real
with Clark and told him that it would have been better if Leah had fallen for
someone else and not Clark; the cousin he had been jealous of all his life. He
said that although they had both grown up without their parents, it seemed as
if everyone else loved Clark and forgot that he too needed to be loved. Leah
was the first person who had loved him and now she preferred Clark as well.
Jigs left Clark with those words and for the first time, Clark seemed like he
understood Jigs.
Clark went to see his client; Diane and she told him that
they would be opening other branches for their café and she wanted him to make
the furniture.
At work, Leah and her colleagues were told that their new
creative director would be arriving soon and Leah was asked to present her
project to him. When she met up with Clark, they shared the news of their
progress at work and agreed to go see Leah’s grandparents the following
weekend.
Leah was doing the final touches to her presentation when a
person sitting behind her tripped and hit her. She spilled her coffee all over
her laptop it broke down. Leah went to complain to him for making her lose her
work which she was supposed to present to her new tyrant boss in a few minutes.
The man gave her a cheque to buy another laptop and went into the men’s room.
Leah followed him there and he asked if she was going in with him. Leah stayed
outside and continued to complain. She handed the cheque back to him when he
got out of the men’s room but he asked her to keep it.
Leah returned to the office and was worried since she could
no longer give the presentation. She was more surprised when her new boss was
introduced and it turned out to be the man who had messed up her laptop; Simon.
Leah his herself as Simon greeted everyone. He said that he wanted an update on
the ongoing project in and specifically called out Leah to go first even though
she tried her best to hide.
Of course Leah was not able to do her presentation and Simon actually scolded her. He said that he needed people
who were perfect in their job and gave Leah and her team another week to have
the presentation ready.
Leah was very worried and almost wanted to hand in her
resignation letter before Simon fired her. She went to see him at his office to
apologize for her behavior and he surprised her by saying that she had caught
his eye and he looked forward to working with her. Leah gave a last attempt to
return his cheque but Simon told her that if she valued her job, she should do
as he says and at that moment, he wanted her to keep the cheque. He dismissed
her so Leah left but she tore up the cheque as she walked to the door so that
Simon would not see her. That was where we ended…
