I have been doing a weekly segment of 'Did you Know' every Friday on my Facebook Page which gives you tidbits of information about our favorite Filipino stars. The Segment is barely a month old but today, I have decided to go big by posting this week's entry as a blog post.
I received an email at the beginning of the week from a Filipina friend who chose to remain anonymous. The email will serve as our 'Did You Know' info for this week and next week because it includes a summarized backstory of most of the Cast on Forevermore. Since we've been enjoying the show thus far i think we would love to know some juicy details about the cast on the side. I therefore decided to share the email with you as i received it; unedited, save for the Pictures i will incorporate. I therefore hope Kenyans will welcome the act of hospitality that the LizQuen fans have extended by thanking them for taking the time to write to us. The Email was quite long, so i will post LizQuen's part first then cover the rest of the cast next week on part Two of the segment.
The email started like so....
"A few months ago while surfing the net, I happened to see your blog. It got me curious and ended reading your articles and checking your FB page since then up to now. I am a Filipina and I am very grateful to you and to all the Africans who watch and support Filipino soaps/teleseryes. I actually didn't know that you watch Filipino soaps until I opened your blog and FB page. Thank you so much to all of you in Africa for supporting our stars/soaps!
Now that Forevermore is airing in your place, I've decided to share some info (not spoilers) about the show, actors, etc. Forevermore was really popular in the Philippines in 2014, and the funny thing is no one expected it. Filipino soaps are known for their heavily dramatic feel, but Forevermore is a bit different from the other previous soaps. It has slight romance-comedy (Rom-Com) feel, mostly. The tandem of the main casts, Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil (LizQuen), was also a surprise to everyone. Forevermore and LizQuen tandem became one of the most loved soaps and tandems in the country.
Forevermore started the "forever" craze in the country. It made the people question and believe about the existence of "forever" in real life (forever in relationships, etc.). With the popularity of the show, surveys were actually conducted if the Filipinos still believe in "forever". Amazingly, many Filipinos still do. That's why this soap is also loved "forever". How about you?
Aside from the interesting storyline of the soap, the audience also got captivated by Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil’s chemistry. So, what’s their real score?"
She then continued by breaking down the email into parts, starting with Liza Soberano (Agnes) and Enrique Gil (Xander); which will serve as Part one of this entry.
"LizQuen
In 2008, when Enrique/Quen’s father died, Liza arrived in the
Philippines. She and her brother were supposed to just visit their father but
ended living permanently with him in the country.
Quen and Liza started as a commercial model/model and both became
Star Magic’s talents (under ABS-CBN).
They met in 2013 when Quen was 20/21 y.o. and Liza was 14/15 y.o.
Aside from belonging to the same talent company, they also have the same handler
(not talent manager).
In March 2013, Liza had her first big screen/movie appearance in “It
Must Be Love” which starred Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla (KathNiel). She
was the third wheel of KathNiel in the movie. The writers, however, wanted her
to have a love interest at the end of the movie and Quen was asked to have a
cameo. Everyone kept Quen’s cameo a secret to Liza. Thus, when Quen appeared,
Liza was so shocked that she cried and ran away from the set even though the
camera was still rolling (she was a cry baby then and thought that everyone
made fun of her; she also had a crush on him). Quen was so worried that he
followed and comforted Liza.
In mid-2013, Quen was asked to do a movie with Bea Alonzo and
Dingdong Dantes, “She’s The One”. Initially, Quen declined because of his busy
schedule, but when the writers told him that he will also be working with Liza,
who will be his bestfriend in the movie, he immediately changed his mind and
accepted it. While promoting their movie, they appeared in a show, Kris TV,
together with Bea and Dingdong. The host and Bea could not help but notice
“something” between Quen and Liza and throughout the whole show, they kept
teasing the two. Their director revealed later on (a year after the movie) that
in the set, Liza and Quen were also teased because Quen was caught staring at
Liza and every time Quen would sit beside her, she would pretend to be busy
with her phone.
Even though, at this time, Quen already had an onscreen partner,
this didn’t deter him and Liza to be close with each other (actually he is
paired with different actresses).
In 2014, Quen was given a project to be a leading star in a
primetime soap and was asked, jokingly, by the producers who he wanted to work
with among his onscreen partners. He chose Liza.
Forevermore would be the first TV soap of their loveteam, LizQuen.
When Forevermore started, many actually criticized Liza as Quen’s
co-star, but many couldn’t also deny the chemistry of the two. As they would
reveal later on, they became very close in the set. The setting of the soap was
in a secluded mountain village; they actually stayed there for months and
rarely travelled back to Manila. They were accustomed working close with each
other that when Quen went to Australia to have a show with other actors, he
admitted that he missed Liza terribly and actually texted her that he liked
her. When he returned to the Philippines, he talked to her father. Liza was
just 16/17 y.o. at that time and was discouraged to entertain suitors, but Quen
still asked permission to court her and even said that he would wait for her.
Their close relationship continued even after Forevermore. They were
also close with each other’s family. Quen had met Liza’s family in the US and
Liza and her family had spent some time with Quen’s family in the latter’s
vacation beach house. They hangout together with their siblings always (dinner,
karaoke sessions, concerts) that Quen’s younger sister captioned some of their
photos in Instagram “Squad”.
After Forevermore, they starred in two movies in 2015, “Just The Way
You Are/The Bet” (based on a popular pop-fiction novel) and “Everyday I Love
You”. In 2016, they returned to primetime as “Serena” (daughter of a rich
Italian family) and “Tenten/Simon” (son of a poor Filipino family). Their soap,
“Dolce Amore”, consistently gained high ratings and million tweets in Twitter."
That story moved me it's so sweet
