Episode 23
We started with Pinang going with Nars and Miggy to see how
Mackie was doing at his vulcanizing shop.
Elsa called Marcy to tell her that she wanted to meet her
and chat because she was back in the Philippines. Marcy invited Elsa over for
dinner and said that she would organize a little get together for her. Elsa
called Miggy to tell her that they were invited for dinner at Marcy’s house.
Miggy told Pinang and Nars about it so Pinang asked Nars to join them as well.
They greeted Mackie at his shop and then left him to work.
Phil had ice cream with Grandpa Apo at the market then escorted
him home. He was saying goodbye to him when Marcy and Emil arrived home. Marcy
told Phil that her friend from Singapore would be visiting and they were having
a get together later so she invited him. Phil was excited and she told Marcy that
he knew Elsa because he had sent a letter to her to send her when he could not
get an address or telephone number to reach her.
Pinang was wary while going home because she did not want to
run into Phil and was glad when the guys that worked with him said told her
that they left him at the market. Pinang walked comfortable in the house but
ran into Phil leaving their house. He greeted her and said he would see her
later for dinner then rode away on his bike.
The moment Pinang saw Phil, she started having stomach pains
like she had been having ever since he carried her out of the mud and she went
to fuss about it in her room. She refused to acknowledge that it was because of
Phil and went through her notes to figure out the symptoms she had and diagnose
herself. She made some ginger tea and drank a lot of it to treat her stomach
pain.
Marcy dug out the letter that Phil sent her years ago and
finally read it. Phil had profusely apologized to her and asked her to go back
to Singapore because he missed her and all the things that she did for him.
Marcy cried as she read it and she told Emil when he joined her that she was
fated to meet with Phil again so that she could forgive him and the two of them
could finally have some closure.
Pinang’s tea did not make her better and she became fussy
all evening as they prepared dinner for the guests. She stained her blouse as
she brought grilled fish to Emil and he asked her to go inside the house and
change.
Nars went to Miggy’s place so that they could go together to
Pinang’s house. Miggy wore a colorful dress hoping that one of the colors on it
would match Phil’s outfit; she had asked for a sign from the universe, that if
she and Phil wore matching clothes then they were meant to be together.
They went with Elsa to Pinang’s house and were removing the
gifts that Elsa had brought for Marcy from the car from Phil arrived. He wore a
blue and it was the one color that was not on Miggy’s dress! Miggy was
devastated as Nars tried to console her.
Elsa was happy to see Marcy and even more delighted to see
Phil again. She said she was happy to see that he and Marcy were able to fix things
between them.
Pinang joined them after changing and Nars was quick to note
that her blouse matched Phil’s outfit. Miggy was devastated but Pinang asked
her not to put too much meaning to the stupid sign. Miggy was however miserable
all through the meal and could barely eat. The rest taught Phil how to speak
Tagalog while he showed them some Portuguese words.
Miggy stood up to get the desserts from the fridge while
Phil said that he would get some water. Miggy took the chance to ask him
whether he liked Pinang because he had said in Portuguese that the girl seated
in front of him was beautiful. (Phil had said it in passing thinking no one
understood him but Miggy had been learning Portuguese ever since she met him.)
She continued to ask if he did not find her beautiful and Phil assured her that
she was beautiful too. Miggy told him that she had a crush on him and was
falling in love with him. Phil said he was sorry because he only saw her as a
friend and hugged her.
When they got back to the table, Pinang said that they would
go to review at the hut and left with Nars and Miggy. Pinang and Nars consoled
Miggy and told her that it was better now that things were clear between her
and Phil and she would not have to hope anymore.
Back at the table, they all gushed about Pinang because she
was a hard worker and Phil said that it was why he liked her. He went on to
explain that he liked her, Miggy and Nars because they worked hard for their
goals so that he would not single out Pinang. Elsa asked if she was dating and everyone
went ahead to oppose the idea of Pinang dating which disappointed Phil.
Phil said goodbye to Marcy and thanked her for inviting him
because the last time he had such an experience was when he was in Brazil.
Marcy asked him to call his parents if he missed them and pray so that their
issues would be resolved. When Phil got
home, he prayed for Marcy and her family because they were the people he now
considered his family.
Elsa told Marcy that she was already separated from her
husband which was why she returned to the Philippines but she did not want to
tell Miggy about it because she did not want to have her distracted during the
bar exams.
Pinang already had her interview for the US Visa scheduled
and Miggy told her to think about her decision to leave more carefully since
she would no longer have her family with her and they always made it easier for
someone to deal with things when life was hard.
Episode 24
Elsa talked to Miggy and asked her what was wrong with her.
Miggy said she was sad because the guy she liked did not like her back and Elsa
told her that she still had to go on and be happy.
At the clinic the following day, Nars had a gushing session
when the new nurse arrived to sign in. He started to shiver from jitters after
the nurse brushed past him but then he received a call from his girlfriend and
Nars almost died from heart break.
To cheer him up as well as Miggy, Pinang asked them to go
for a Karaoke session and sing the heart break away. They went to Miggy’s place
and sang love songs all through the night.
In the morning, Pinang was taking her custards to De Luna’s
and was waiting on a tricycle when one pulled up. Phil got out of it just as
Pinang was about to get in because she did not know he was inside. He said that
he would let her use it because he was not in a hurry. Pinang clutched her
stomach again and Phil asked her to have it checked by a doctor because he had
noticed that she had stomach pains. Pinang said she was fine and hurriedly got
in the tricycle.
When Pinang got to the clinic, she went to see the doctor
and she was very happy to be diagnosed with gastritis.
Phil saw Grandpa Apo at the market and offered to go home
with him because he had already sold all his brooms. Apo said that it was too
early and he would go to Julian’s café instead so Phil agreed to go with him.
The moment they walked in, the girls at the counter could not help but gush
over Phil. They fought to take his order and Julian got upset because
Margerette was infatuated with Phil as well.
Julian went home late because he covered Margerette’s shift
but he was also upset because she was crushing over Phil. Pinang noticed that
he was upset and he told her that he was annoyed at a customer because the girl
had a crush on liked him. Pinang told him that a crush was supposed to make him
happy and not grumpy and then offered
him dinner.
The following day was Sunday and Pinang went with Julian to
the café to study there. Mackie went into town with them and had too and they
laughed at him when he received a call from Lotlot since he forgot about having
lunch with her. Mackie apologized because he had to open the shop and he could
not go visit her. They then teased Pinang because Phil did not seem like he
would be leaving any time soon and they implied that he was staying because of
her. Pinang said that she was not a duck; because Phil was staying to have
enough time to sell his ducks.
Marcy had an argument with Grandpa Apo because he asked her
to stop working too much and rest but she did not listen to him. They however
made up after Marcy made a dish that he liked for him.
Pinang went with Julian at his café and got a table alone so
that she could study. Nars called her and she asked him and Miggy to join her there then went to the
bathroom because she had been drinking a lot of tea.
Phil also left Dahlia’s house to look for a coffee shop he
could work at because he was getting sleepy at home. He went to Julian’s café and
after giving Margarette his order, she asked him to share a table with someone
because the place was full.
Phil was already working when Pinang returned from the
bathroom and he explained to her that he had to sit there because there were no
available tables. He hoped she did not mind and Pinang said it was fine because it was not her café. She
however asked him not to disturb her and Phil gave a winning smile as he
promised not to bother her. We ended as Pinang tried to read but her gaze went
to Phil…
