Who is Alden Richards…

Following the premier of Carmela on KTN Kenya today, I found it necessary to do an article on one of the Stars from the show which is crediting Marian Rivera-Dantes and Alden Richards. Obviously, Marian Rivera does not need any introduction as this is already the fifth show we will watch that she is in… The other name however, Alden Richards who will play Yago is yet to become a popular name on our screens.

 

 However, he is not that knew because he was the star of One True Love, a not so popular show NTV Kenya aired some time back (Almost forgot about it myself…) where Alden played Tisoy, a boy with a genetic eye disorder; Dyslexia that made him unable to attend school. He then fell for his father’s adopted daughter, with him been switched at birth he was unaware of his biological father’s true identity. The particular lass was played by Louise Delos Reyes. The show also had some huge stars including Jean Garcia & Agot Isidro.

Alden has thus been a star on the rise and was discovered on a talent search show Starstruck which he never won but has been a GMA artist since then appearing in some of their shows like the one I just mentioned. At the moment though, he is one of GMA’s biggest acts alongside his now loveteam partner Maine Mendoza dubbed AlDub with whom he has a live-reality based story on the noontime GMA show Eat Bulaga! Their segment garnered a total of 25.6 million tweets last weekend, topping the Filipino trends that day. From this numeric evidence, we hope the Alden Richards craze also rubs off on us on this side of the world…

I was not too crazy with Carmela since I watched the trailer, but my mindset has been significantly altered and am honestly looking forward to the show. Lets tune in 6 p.m on @KTNKenya and see what goes down..
