This is the second week now, since Carmela premiered on KTN
Kenya. It has been a slow start as the story continues to build its
momentum introducing characters here and there. I had not been too crazy about
the program since I saw the trailer but I will have to admit at the moment that
it is gradually making it is way into my good graces. Carmela might not have the same invoking presence that Ikaw Lamang had, but I definitely
believe it has an appeal to it, albeit on a different level. I think that most of you guys are yet to
like the show, so I decided to give you a boost into the plot so that you can
get the gist of it and hopefully start watching it… (It has been a lonely two weeks…)
The bigger picture is that the story is about Amanda and her daughter Carmela. When Amanda was younger, she
met and fell in love with a deaf guy,Danilo.
They got married and had a beautiful daughter whom they named Carmela. However, there was an older
man, Mr. Fernando who had always
lusted over Amanda and therefore took
it upon himself to trick the dear deaf guy into his grave. He had taken him out
on a train track and Danilo not
hearing the train coming, realized only too late what was going on. After Danilo’s death, Amanda is now left unprotected and falls victim to Mr. Fernando’s
ill intentions when he rapes her. She defends herself by stabbing him and
decides to run away. She is however arrested before her escape, now leaving a
young Carmela unprotected. Carmela at
her young age learns of the role Mr.
Fernando has played in killing her parents as she believes her mother also
dead and vows revenge. Meanwhile, Amanda gives birth to another daughter as a
result of the rape who Mr. Fernando cares for with his wife, by leading her to
believe that she is adopted.
Carmela now grows up into a beautiful young woman,
determined to make the best of her life and make those who destroyed her life
pay. She was adopted by a kind hearted woman who seems to be running a
mini-orphanage as she takes care of three more stray children. Amanda now is on
a quest to find her long lost daughter Carmela and works at a brothel to make
ends meet.
Things start getting interesting when Santiago ‘Yago’ enters the picture. He happens to be Mr.Fernando’s grandson which I believe
is a fact that will come into play later in the plot. Yago goes to the same school Carmela attends. Carmela is continually accosted by the rich kids in her school
and always has a way to ward them off. She takes up the same techniques when
she meets Yago, but he is able to work around it andthey slowly become friends
and ultimately start falling for each other. Unfortunately, Carmela does not have room for love in her
plans and thus tries to discourage Yago’s
intentions by being rude and telling him off; which Yago is not buying as he continues to pursue her with an unmatched
tenacity that is quite the intrigue… We are yet to see if Carmela will accept him or continue to push Yago away till he gives up. (Yago
has his own story, but am sure you guys can pick up on that as we move along.
This is turning out to be longer than I expected…)
Yago & Caterina |
If this is still not enough for you guys to tune in, then
one person is definitely worth watching the program. I dare anyone to stop
watching the show after you have seen man candy that is Alden Richards; playing Yago,
accompanied by his dazzling set of dimples. ;)
Please get back to me and tell me what you think of the show
thus far…Catch the show every weekday on KTN KENYA 6 p.m EAT.
