This 2015 has seen Kenya host some of the biggest
personalities in the world including American President Barack Obama, Pope Francis
and we even had B.o.B grace the
Kenyan soil a few weeks ago! This being the case, am happy to announce that we
Filipino Kenyan fans were not left behind in this trend as Filipino Celebrity
couple Billy Crawford & Coleen Garcia chose Africa as their
vacation destination this holiday season and are currently in Kenya enjoying the sights that are our
beautiful country!
As they may not be well known here, am going to give you a background on who they are! The two are both signed to the Kapamilya Network ABS-CBN with Billy Crawford being a singer and host while Coleen Garcia is an actress and host. Some of Coleen’s work include her Telesyre Pasion De Amor (Included in our bucket list for the shows we hope to watch next year) which is an adaptation of Telemundo's Pasion De Gavilanes.

I happened to scroll
down my Instagram page yesterday afternoon only to come across Coleen Garcia’s
post captioned Lake Nakuru National Park
as the location and it took me an entire minute to convince myself that there
cannot be another Nakuru other than
the one I know of and hence let the excitement set in! Both Billy and Coleen
have been posting such amazing shots of their Kenyan Vacation; from the animals
to the scenery you’d think the photos were for a travel magazine! Thank God for
the wonderful Cameras that they brought with them.
What I appreciate most though
are the captions they are writing to accompany the posts, helping us share in
their experience and their perception about our land. Africa is more often than
not portrayed as a barbaric and backward land and it is for these kinds of
moments that we are ever proud of ourselves; when the misconceptions are
finally proven a lie. Thanks to Billy & Coleen for taking the chance to come to
Africa and for sharing the stories that the world is rarely given the chance to
see!

After their amazing tour of their Lake Nakuru yesterday, the
two will be at Maasai Mara today. I am yet to learn whether their vacation is
going to be exclusively in Kenya or will involve other African countries but I
wish that them the best, stay safe and enjoy! You can follow them on Instagram
