Episode 35
We started with Pinang going remising about all the things
that Phil had done for her.
Grandpa Apo knocked on her door to give her a
present for passing the bar exam. It was a box he had made for her and said
that it was for Pinang to keep her special stuff. Pinang thanked him and
stuffed the things that Phil had given her in the little box.
Pinang later went to do laundry and Pinang called to ask how
her day was. Pinang said it was okay and asked the same from him. He said it
was good because he saw Pinang earlier that morning. Pinang said that she had
to go because she was doing laundry and Phil asked why she was doing it late in
the evening. Pinang told him that it was because she had to go to Manila the
following morning to get registered. Phil was delighted and said that he too had
to go to Manila the next day to see a client. They then wished each other good
night.
The following morning, Pinang prepared her Caramel custards
and then went to catch a bus to Manila. Unfortunately, the bus she wanted to
take broke down and she had to take a van service. When she went to take the
van, she ran into Phil at the waiting line and he was delighted to see her
since they would ride together. Phil paid for her ticket and they went
together.
When they arrived at Manila, Phil said that he would keep Pinang
company at the registration center since his meeting was in four hours and he
did not have anywhere to go. Pinang said that she would call her mother first
to tell her that she arrived but she realized that she left her phone in the
car. Phil offered to give her his phone and handed it to her. Pinang was surprised
to see that she was Phil’s screen saver and he got thoroughly embarrassed. He
took the phone back from Pinang and offered to be the one to make the call
instead.
When they called Marcy, Pinang explained that she lost her
phone and she was with Phil because they ran into each other at the bus
station. She said Phil was going to a business meeting and each of them were
going to their respective appointments. After Pinang was done with the call, Phil
insisted to go with her and Pinang could not deny him. When they got inside,
the line was long so Phil offered to get Pinang breakfast.
Vincent called Miggy to ask if she was with Pinang and she
told him that Pinang was in Manila getting registered. Vincent said that he
would go to Manila to surprise her and Miggy asked him to hang up because she
was out with her mother.
Marcy also told Emil that Pinang was with Phil and he got
suspicious about the coincidence. Marcy told him that they only ran into each
other on the way but Emil was doubtful.
Phil brought coffee and sandwiches for Pinang and they ate
as they waited in line. Once they were done, Phil went to take out the trash
and when he was gone, Vincent arrived. He sat by Pinang’s side and gave her a souvenir
he had brought for her from his vacation. He asked if he could continue
courting her because they were now done with the bar exams but Pinang said that
it was still not possible because she had other things to prioritize. Vincent
accepted her offer of friendship and then asked if he could wait with Pinang
until she was done. Phil had been listening in on their conversation and chose
this as the right time to interrupt them. He told Vincent that he was with
Pinang and so Vincent decided to leave. Pinang’s turn arrived and she went
inside and Phil stayed to wait for her.
Margaret was sad at school because her mother cancelled an
appointment to go visit her at San Isidro. Julian covered up for her since they
were supposed to be in class when Margaret received the call. When they went to
the café later, Margaret’s grandmother was already there and she asked Margaret
to take the day off so that they could go shopping.
When Pinang was done, she found Phil dozing outside and she
was amazed to see that he was still waiting for her. As they prepared to leave,
Phil got a call from the client that he was supposed to see and he asked that
they have a video call instead because he could not make it to their meeting.
After Phil got off the call, he asked Pinang if he could find a coffee shop
where he could access wifi. Pinang helped him find one and as he set up his
computer, Pinang borrowed his phone. She texted Marcy to say that she was done
with the registration and would be back home soon. She then texted Nars and asked
that he call her. Nars called back and Pinang asked him whether she should wait
for Phil or leave. Pinang felt embarrassed to leave Phil after he had waited
for her and Nars convinced her to stay because nothing wrong would happen if
she did.
Pinang watched Phil conduct his presentation and felt
admiration for the way he dealt with the client. Phil eventually got the deal
and he told Pinang that it was because she was there with him.
When they went to get a bus to travel back, they were not
able to find one. Pinang asked to borrow Phil’s phone so that she could update
Marcy but the phone was dead. Emil got worried about Pinang since she was yet
to arrive and when he asked Marcy to call Phil, his phone was off.
Phil wanted to pay for a cab to drive them to San Isidro but
Pinang was appalled by how expensive it was so she refused to let them take the
taxi. She insisted that they wait for a bus and after a while, a van finally
arrived.
Episode 36
When Phil and Pinang arrived at San Isidro, Phil wanted to
escort her home by saying that he had to take care of his ducks. Pinang said
that it was not necessary for him to do that because Arsing, Badong and Roger
had already done it. Phil conceded because it had only been an excuse. Mackie
was also on his way home so Pinang went with him as Phil went to Dahlia’s
house.
Emil was finally at ease to see Pinang arrive home and when
they sat down for dinner, he asked her if Phil tried to court her. Marcy
decided to rephrase and asked Pinang what happed when she was in Manila with
Phil. Pinang told them that he bought her breakfast and waited for her to get registered
then they went to a coffee shop since Phil’s client asked to have a video call
instead because he could not make it. Pinang gushed about how well Phil talked
about his business and caught everyone by surprise because she spoke with a lot
of admiration.
The following morning, Pinang tried to explain to Emil about
her feelings for Phil but Emil was uncomfortable and said that he did not want
to know anything about it.
When Phil arrived, Pinang called him over and handed him
back the hood that he had lent her. Phil noticed that it had been washed and he
said that it smelt sweet because of the detergent. Emil joined them and Phil
returned to his duck pen.
Emil followed Phil and straight up asked him if he was
courting Pinang and Phil admitted it. Emil explained to Phil that he did not
want him courting Pinang because they owed him a lot of money and it seemed as
if they were offering their daughter for payment. He therefore forebade Phil to
court Pinang.
Pinang talked to Nars and Miggy about her situation with
Phil. Mackie had also mentioned to her the that people might not understand her
relationship with Phil. Nars and Miggy tried to be helpful but they ended up
teasing Pinang about her unused hair clips if she refused to let Phil court
her.
Mackie and Lotlot continued to look for job vacancies abroad
because they wanted to go together.
Grandpa apo talked to Phil about Emil warning off Phil. He
told Phil that Emil was also adamant while courting Marcy and he kept going
back no matter how many times Grandpa Apo opposed it. He therefore asked Phil not
to give up. Phil asked if it would be disrespectful for him to continue courting
Pinang after Emil told him not to and Grandpa Apo said that Emil might not like
it in the beginning but he would eventually learn to respect him. He told Phil
to dress up, buy something to bring to them and then go to the house and ask if
he could officially court Pinang.
Phil went out and bought two shirts. He asked Arthur to help
him pick one and then got dressed up to go to Pinang’s house.
Pinang and her family were already getting ready to go sleep
when they heard a knock on the door. Pinang went to open it and found Phil
standing outside. Everyone got up to see what he was doing there and Phil announced
that he was there to officially court Pinang. Marcy welcomed him inside and then
excused herself and a reluctant Emil so that Phil could talk to Pinang. She
however asked Phil not to stay too long since it was already dark. Grandpa Apo
went back to sleep and also asked Mackie and Julian to go wait in Pinang’s room
so that they could give Phil and Pinang some privacy.
Emil was restless and wanted to make Phil leave but Marcy
asked him to let it be since Phil had acted the right way and formally asked to
court Pinang instead of doing it behind their backs.
At the sitting room, Phil breathed a sigh of relief when everyone
left him and Pinang alone. He handed Pinang the food he had brought along for
her and said that it was harder to talk to her at her house since he was not
used to that kind of courtship. Pinang accepted the treats that Phil brought and
insisted that he eat with her since it was too much. We ended as Phil accepted
a piece and smiled at Pinang…
