It has been well past a month since the epic premier of Bridges of Love on KTNKenya, and so far
so good! The show is ever more entertaining when it airs and it has already
reached that point in the story when a division in loyalties to the characters
has now occurred. It is becoming an argument of sorts with each fan defining their
opinions very passionately, a testament to the Bridges Of Love entire
production team!
I therefore have taken my opportunity to clue in my somewhat liberal opinion on the story. I say liberal because my opinion as an aspiring writer enables me to look at a story and be able to appreciate the brilliance that goes into writing an all rounded story that helps the viewer relate to and identify with a character without being close minded to the dynamics and circumstances in the story that actually shape the character.

On to the Carlos-Mia
vs Gael-Mia debate, I think it’s
safe to say that Gael has garnered most fans here in Kenya and at this point in
the story, a lot of people have been hating on Carlos’ guts. Apparently,
because Gael loved Mia unconditionally and went through so much suffering in
Saudi, Mia is being crazy for choosing a ‘bad’ Carlos over the ever wonderful
Gael and being inconsiderate toward him because she flaunts her relationship
with Carlos in front of him. I will admit that my loyalties lean neither toward
Gael nor Carlos but I am out to defend Carlos in this post because I think guys
are choosing to see whatever is wrong with him and completely ignoring whatever
good he has done. Gael is the one always in Mia’s way and refuses to accept
that she has actually moved on. CarMia have been sweet on each other ever since and i don't see why they should stop being so, just because an ex is in the midst. They have lives to live.
I personally do not think Carlos is a bad person, but he is
ready and willing to defend the people that are important to him, whatever it
takes. He almost lost his adaptive father, Lorenzo when he did the impossible
to stop him from pursuing Alexa who was only out to destroy them which is still
her plan up until now after she got Lorenzo to sign that power of attorney. Do
you also remember when he pulled out a gun to defend Mia’s cousin who had been
battered by her boyfriend? I hope none of you guys missed that episode… He
never was rude to Gael either and was actually very fond of him before he
learned of his identity as Mia’s ex, which he eventually got over but changed
once he learned Gael was actually his brother. Now, Carlos believes that his
brother sold him off which Gael actually told him and Carlos was too young then
to understand why he said it. Carlos has always held animosity toward his brother and that would not have changed had he been his brother turned out to be someone else other than Gael.

He grew up thinking that everybody eventually
leaves him, which wholly explains why he is so possessive of Mia and advised
her not to see the mother who walked out on her. He said, and quoting; “Family
are the ones that stay.” Notably though, he did give her the chance to do what she
felt was necessary for her because he didn’t demand that Mia NOT see her mother
and decided to postpone their trip once he learned of Mia’s mother condition.
Granted, Gael has
extremely admirable qualities, but the emotional pain that Carlos has been
through have shaped his persona, his actions and his thoughts thus I think that
his character is fully founded. Otherwise, there would be no point in experiencing
things that do not influence the person that you become. This is a wonderful
story that sparks amazing conversations and we give huge props to ABS-CBN and
Star Creatives for giving us a plot that actually fits into the endless
quagmire that is life itself.
Therefore, I hope you guys share with me what it is you feel
about this love triangle and what your opinions are about the strife that the
brothers Carlos and Gael have caused among the viewers…
