Episode 37
We started with Emil calling Pinang to ask where she was and
when she would be going home.
Pinang said that they were at the Karaoke bar and
would go to a movie after which they would go home. Emil wanted Mackie to pick
Pinang up later but she said that Gab would drive her home.
Emerson finished singing and asked who would go next. They
all shouted out Phil’s name and he took the microphone. He played ‘Be My Lady’ and
Miggy asked if he was going to play it again. Phil said that he would but in Portuguese.
He changed the lyrics to Portuguese and sang for a while. Pinang seemed to
really enjoy it but Phil turned around to face her as he continued to sing.
Pinang got flustered so she stopped him and told everyone that they had to go
to the movie before it was too late. They still had forty minutes but Pinang
said that she wanted to get popcorn! Emerson said that he would not join them
because his girlfriend had already arrived and they would be going out for
dinner.
Phil went to buy the popcorn while Gab went into the
bathroom. Nars, Miggy and Pinang were outside the restroom waiting and Nars hit
a girl walking out. She turned out to be Emerson’s girlfriend and he introduced
her to them; breaking Nars’ heart. Phil got back with the popcorn and was glad
to learn that Pinang liked the same flavor as him.
Gab still had to attend to a call so she let them walk in to
watch the movie. Phil left a seat between him and Pinang so that Gab could sit
with her. Pinang wondered where Gab was and Phil took the seat next to her to tell
her that he would go get her if she took too long. Gab arrived and took the
seat next to Phil instead. Phil laughed along with everyone else and Pinang
wondered whether he understood. Phil told her that Filipinos were very expressive
and Pinang offered to translate for him if he did not understand anything. Gab
cried throughout the movie and said that she was only touched by the story
line.
After the movie, Gab went to take a call and Phil once again
tried to talk to Pinang. She thought he would point out that Gab was not fine
and Phil went with it. He was not able to ask Pinang if he could court her. Gab
returned and drove Pinang home. She told Pinang that her boyfriend had been
avoiding her which was why she was sad
and commented that Phil was a nice and thoughtful guy.
In the morning, Phil texted Pinang good morning and said he
would see her later. Julian noticed that she was busy on her phone and Pinang said
that it was only Phil wishing her a good morning and there was nothing to it. Marcy
asked Julian not to tease Pinang because Phil was only her friend.
When Phil arrived, he said he wanted to fetch water for the
ducks so he could go greet Pinang. He helped her fetch water and took the
opportunity to ask if they could go out to eat later. Pinang said that she was
busy and that maybe they could try another day.
When Pinang was delivering her caramel custards, Gab called
her and she was in tears. She was on the way going to Pinang’s house and
stopped in the middle of the road. Pinang said she would go to her as soon as
she was done and Gab got out of the car to cry by the side of the road. Phil
was on his bike when he saw Gab crying and went to see what was wrong. He asked
if he should call Pinang and Gab said that she already called and Pinang was on
her way. She then asked Phil to stay with her and continued to cry on his
shoulder.
Pinang arrived and seemed a little disturbed seeing Phil
hugging Gab. Gab rushed to Pinang when she saw her and told her that her
boyfriend broke up with her via text after falling for another girl abroad.
Pinang told her that she did not deserve someone like that. Phil agreed and
pointed out that Gab was beautiful and fun to be with so she would find someone
worthy of her. Gab said that she would go on vacation to unwind then left after
feeling better. Pinang saw a friend of hers and she said that their bar exam
results would be uploaded online.
Pinang went home and called Miggy to tell her about the exam
results being released. Miggy hurried there with her laptop and wifi but they
were not able to access the site. Phil joined them and explained that the site
was probably slow because there were too many people waiting to log in. He then
went home after wishing them the best.
Nars joined them later in the evening. Emil and Marcy got
home and they were eager to see the results too. The site was finally able to
load and Miggy said she would check first. Her name was on the list and she was
overjoyed. Nars went second and was glad to find his name there too. When Pinang
went to check her name, the site stopped loading again!
By dinner time, Pinang was still stressing over whether she
passed or not and her family told her not to worry because she had definitely
passed.
Episode 38
When Miggy got home, Phil called to ask if they had gotten
their results. Miggy said that she and Nars already had their results but
Pinang was yet to get hers because of the overloaded site. Phil asked if there
was another way they could find out the results and Miggy said that they always
published the names in the newspaper.
Phil called Pinang and told her that he wanted to keep her
company as she waited for the results. He got his computer out and tried to
load the site as he spoke to Pinang on the phone until late into the night. He
asked her what kind of guy she liked and she said that she wanted a kind and
sweet person. Pinang then asked Phil
what kind of girl he liked and phil gave a lengthy explanation that really
sounded as if he was describing Pinang. Pinang said that she wished he found someone
like that because Phil said she was rare and he said he had already found her!
Pinang got flustered and wished Phil good night.
Pinang dreamt that she received a letter telling her that
she had failed the exam and could not sleep. She woke up at 4 in the morning
and went out to wait for the morning paper.
Emil woke up early as well to go get the newspaper for
Pinang so that she would no longer be anxious but when he got to the newspaper
stand, Pinang was already there. When the papers arrived, Emil had to calm
Pinang down and he decided that he would be the one to look for her name
because she was too nervous. He finally found it and showed it to Pinang who
was delighted.
Phil woke up early too and
wanted to get a paper to see if Pinang passed. Dahlia’s daughter gave
him the paper so that he would not have to buy one and he was happier than
Pinang to see her name there. He rushed out to go give Pinang the good news.
When he got there, the family was already celebrating and he congratulated Pinang. Marcy decided to
make some noodles to celebrate later and invited Phil to join them. Phil said
he would join them and then left. Pinang called Nars and Miggy to tell them the
good news and invited them to have dinner at their place.
Gab saw Pinang’s name in the paper and showed it to her
parents. Sol commented that it was good so that she could find a good job and
their family would stop depending on others for help. Gabby told her parents
that she was going for a road trip to Baguio to unwind.
Phil went to Dahlia’s place and said that he wanted to give
Pinang a gift to congratulate her. He remembered that she liked everlasting
flowers and he said he would go to Baguio to get them for her.
Pinang had seen Phil leave and she seemed upset that he had
left so early while before he used to stay there the entire day. He asked the
guys who worked with him where Phil had gone and they said that they did not
know. Pinang then left to check her schedule at the clinic where she
volunteered.
Phil stopped at a restaurant in Baguio to have a cup of
coffee and ask where he could get some everlasting flowers. Gab went into the
same restaurant and told Phil that she was on a road trip. When she heard that
Phil was looking for flowers to give Pinang, she offered to accompany him and
abandoned her road trip. Dahlia called Phil later to ask how he was doing and
he told her that he was Pinang’s cousin who was helping him find the flowers.
Pinang was irritable the
entire day since Phil never contacted her or sent her a text. He did not show
up to the dinner that Marcy prepared and when Nars tried to call him, his phone
could not be reached.
Phil and Gab got the flowers and Phil ordered a pot so that
he could grow the flowers himself and give Pinang a flower every day. On their
way back, Gab’s car broke down because she forgot to water the engine and they had to stop to borrow some water. Both
of their phones were out of battery but Gab had a power bank. She took a picture
with Phil and posted it on Instagram.
After failing to reach Phil, Nars called Dahlia and Dahlia
told him that Phil was in Baguio with someone called Gab. Nars and Miggy had a
hard time relaying the information to Pinang but she acted as if she was not
affected. She said that Gab had told her she would go to Baguio and so they
might have decided to go together.
After dinner, Pinang gave a short speech to thank her family
for supporting her and Emil played them a song. Miggy took a lovely photo of
Emil and Pinang and decided to post it on Instagram. The moment they logged on,
they saw the photo of Phil and Gab.
Andy passed by to give Pinang a gift from him and Gab and
also brought a bottle of some expensive alcohol for Emil. He drank a glass with
Emil and then left.
Gab and Phil arrived late and Gab dropped Phil off at Pinang’s
house. She was delighted to see Phil put in so much effort and encouraged him
to finally date Pinang. Phil texted Pinang that he was outside and asked her to
go outside because he had something for her. Pinang had worked herself into a
temper because she had waited all day for Phil to text her so she told him to
go home because it was late.
Phil did not want to wait because the flowers would wilt so he
decided to give her the flowers by the bedroom window so that she would not
have to leave the house. He knocked down a pan as he went to Pinang’s room and it woke up
Emil.
Phil waved the flowers like a peace offering and Pinang
accepted them with a smile. Phil was about to ask her if he could court her but
Emil arrived and saw them. We ended as Pinang got startled after her father saw
her holding the flowers and Phil on her bedroom window…
